Jazzy_Jeff Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 I think he's been a great servant to our club. Whilst he has made the odd error or had the odd bad game (as a lot of our players have) he has always remained committed and given his all. His experience has proved invaluable and I don't think he has been the liability that a lot of you think he has been. You don't have the career he's had without being a decent player. If he is to leave I wish him well.
Littletoe Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 This^^^^ Apart from renewing his contract. Now we have Fuchs and Schlupp competing in that position Konchesky won't earn his place in the squad. He'll almost certainly be released unless Schlupp is off to Arsenal. I don't think it would be a bad idea to have Fuchs, Schlupp and Konchesky to cover LB/LM. I understand completely why, if he was to leave this club, but my opinion is that he could yet prove valuable for us next season. Maybe not a starter for every game or even a few games, but i think it's important to us, we have strength in depth and experienced players to take up responsibility if things do go wrong.
DennisNedry Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 A few years ago he was decent for us but he's been poor for a while now and always looked a liability in the PL even in his prime.
Carl the Llama Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 This thread's going to look very silly when Paul doesn't leave this summer.
Corky Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 We'll just edit it slightly depending on how he performed in his 8 substitute league appearances and two early season League Cup starts next June.
bovril Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Nowhere near as bad as people made him out to be. His experience and work-ethic were crucial in the last few seasons.
FOXES-BROWNBOY Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Worked hard but didnt cut it in the prem at all, far to slow and always felt nervous when he was on the ball, sure a championship team will sign him up
DB11 Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 I always quite liked him. He was suspect in a number of games but he still had the right attitude that meant I was behind him. In recent years I liked Bruno Berner more but Konchesky was still a very good player for the club.
Danno Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Steady player who always gave his all. Will be fine for a championship club.
Wymsey Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Good going forward, and always hungry, but can be rough with his tackling.
Lesta2014 Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 He's staying, turns out he isn't out of contract if you read the mercury article on wasyl!
Carl the Llama Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 He's staying, turns out he isn't out of contract if you read the mercury article on wasyl! Genuinely don't see why we would get rid of him without a further left-sided defender coming in. All it takes is an injury to Schlupp or Fuchs and we have no backup in that LB/LWB area. I imagine Konch won't have delusions of regular first team football anymore so as long as he's happy as a squad member, here for the as and when, we'd be idiotic to remove him just because Fuchs signed.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Granted he's prone to the odd (sometimes shocking) mistake but on the whole he is a very consistent performer and has always provided vital interceptions and tackles that often seem to go unnoticed. Gets a lot more stick than deserved I reckon That goal versus Wolves too. KABLAMO
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Explain? I didn't think he was that good in the Championship 2013/14 and aside from a handful of half decent displays he was often out of his depth in the PL last season. Some fans on here seem to be making out he's a world beater, they obviously watch a different player to me

UpTheLeagueFox Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 No world beater, but no where near as bad as some of the stick he got. Scape goat at times. He and Morgan were weak links too often for me last season.
Leicesterpool Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Good player and always professional. Wish all the best in the future. Thank u Paul
Aus Fox Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Well, does this thread need a quick edit? Turns out he is contracted until the end of next year, so will be staying, unless someone comes in for him.

Where did you get that one from? Last thing I heard his contract was running until the end of June 2015. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/25898156
Carl the Llama Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/page/playerdetails.php?pid=1136 Contract end:30.06.2015
Tielemans63 Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Can't quote it as I'm on my phone but today's Merc, in the story about Wasyl's contract, reveals that 'it has emerged' that PK has another year on his contract despite the club announcing initially that has current deal would end at the end of this month. Reads a bit like it's a surprise to some even within the club, maybe someone's made a massive **** up? Either that or he signed an extension and the club didn't announce it which seems very unlikely. He's a big earner and we could do without a highly paid reserve teamer.

Meanwhile, Paul Konchesky is also staying with City, despite the club originally announcing his contract extension he signed in January, 2014, expired at the end of the 2014-15 season. However, it has now emerged Konchesky has another year on his deal with City and will compete with new signing Christian Fuchs for the left-back berth.
