In terms of our expansion, extra tier on the east stand and an extended, single-tiered Kop would be perfect. An extra tier on the kop and east stand to make the place lop sided again like filbert street

The Family Stand should also be lowered so Huth's free kicks go all the way over the stand like they're supposed to.
m4DD0gg Posted 8 May 2017 Posted 8 May 2017 Duno why all this talk of Spurs. Having been to WHL the atmosphere was crap. They sing two songs and if they are loosing they leave around the 75th minute mark. Be just like the emirates, a soul less library full of day trippers on ipads and tourists.
purpleronnie Posted 8 May 2017 Posted 8 May 2017 One thing's for sure it's going to be a cracking stadium. They've just been granted permission to increase the single tier by another 500, making it 17.5000 capacity stand. Latest images of the stadium taking shape.

Much as i hate spurs and their shitty fans i am mad jelly about the stadium itself, It has a bakery and a bloody brewery inside it!

I don't want to go from a blue St Marys to a blue Stadium of Light. I want something unique that we can be proud of. Also expanding the Kop solidifies it as the home 'end', attacking and extended version in the second half every game would be great. Also more tifo room. Reckon this would be the ideal option, as you'd also assume adding say 5000 to the back of the kop would most likely be 5000 standing (as the back of the kop already stands now) improving the atmosphere provided the roof was kept as low as it is now and more tilted/lifted up to the back.

Dan Posted 9 May 2017 Posted 9 May 2017 The announcement on season ticket prices is surely a hint there's nothing going on in the short term. They've got to look at it properly next summer surely.

Not sure there's a link there TBH. This surely comes down to who owns the factory behind the East stand, there was rumours we had brought it but as far as I can tell it is still in use?
stripeyfox Posted 10 May 2017 Posted 10 May 2017 No planning application has been made yet (that we know of). If an application for planning permission was made tomorrow, and approved relatively quickly I think you're still looking at least a year before work would commence.
Babylon Posted 10 May 2017 Posted 10 May 2017 I'd imagine this seasons disaster start put things on the back burner a bit anyway.

There's not really such a thing, once submitted you have about 8 weeks of consultation period, for objections, talks with Highways agency etc, and although it's not near huge swathes of residential properties, as such I think the fact we supposedly used the Administration thing to not carry out proper park and ride systems etc means we would get hauled into a mire of meetings and red tape. If they wanted anything to be sorted by the 2018/19 season they need to start planning processes now, if not they will have lost another 12 months. I'm not sure they haven't looked and decided the demand isn't quite there and however hard we try we are never gonna catch up with Utd/City and the London clubs. Unless they accept that it's such a small portion of income and expansion comes with £200 season tickets. That's the only way we can grow really, not sure the demand is there for another 5 or 6k paying north of £400 quid. The biggest issue they have currently is the lack of seating if they continue to consider the family stand as that, as there are no where to move families too once they are no longer under 18s in the group, so unless they are happy that the demand from younger generations is there, then I can't see them spending the cash on an expansion. I think they have gone a little cool on the idea.

They've achieved that by downsizing their planned trophy room.

barock Posted 11 May 2017 Posted 11 May 2017 I am one of many that are unable to buy a season ticket. Cannot understand why so many are against expansion when other clubs are moving or improving their grounds. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/01/11/ten-futuristic-football-stadiums-cant-wait-watch-matches-next/

We've been in the Premier League for less than half it's existence. Not a fair like-for-like comparison. I'm in favour of expansion to 38,000 to 40,000 but given what happened after the last expansion you can't blame too many for being a bit apprehensive.

The sort of money we're making, the wealth of the owners etc should mean it's nowhere near as big a risk. The profit we made last accounts would pay for it alone, we have substantial amounts in the bank with more to come from this season (£200m turnover just about). It would be prudent to put a bit aside each year that pays for it outright in one go. Nothing hanging over our heads... other than a new stand. When we built the new ground people said the demand wasn't there, I remember us averaging about 13,000 in the championship (or whatever it was called at the time). If you have the seats you have room to grow. More space to let the new generations get hooked cheaply and turn them into season ticket holders. It should be seen as a 10/15 year project to fill any expansion regularly.
AmarteyAndChill Posted 11 May 2017 Posted 11 May 2017 Very important if we want to grow as a club. 38k-40k would be ideal.
yorkie1999 Posted 11 May 2017 Posted 11 May 2017 If they put rail seating in the kop and corners that would add 2500, lowered the pitch and put 3 extra rows in all the way round pitch side, that would add another 2500 which would make about 37000 for not much outlay.

Digging a down a metre or so wouldn't be that costly surely. Also gives the advantage of getting the fans closer to the pitch all the way round. It won't happen but it's a cool idea.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 12 May 2017 Posted 12 May 2017 I don't think anyone has ever mentioned this but what about swapping the Kop and Family Stand?

No they don't relay the pitch now, since that desso stuff was sewn into the pitch what they do now is kill it off at the end of the season, replant it and go again. Its more what's under the pitch than the turf, drainage and the like it would cost a fortune to lower all that a metre or two just to get a few rows in, you could install the rows now as a lot of grounds have seats at turf level. Awful view down there though. Old Trafford, Etihad are two that spring to mind and the etihad installed extra rows the other season at pitch level.
