justfoxes Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/leicester-striker-jamie-vardy-hints-6675126 According to the mirror Jamie Vardys future is to be considered in the summer,Vardy has been quoted as saying he has repaid the club with his performances! So do we offer him a new mega bucks deal now or wait til next year to see if he continues his form,Claudio has said it wil take a lot of money to buy Vardy so how much is a lot of money to buy our prized asset at the moment and who would we replace him with if someone was to come in with a silly offer for our little terrier ? I for one would hate to see him leave as I believe he will continue to work miracles for Leicester this season and continue his great scoring prowess and continue to be a thorn in the side of all the defences he plays against ! I for one hope he stays a long time for us !
Gerard Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 Absolute bollocks. The Mirror know nothing even if they so happen to be right. Guessing bastards, end of thread.

filbertway Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 I did find it weird that he said "I'm contracted to the club and I'm happy at Leicester", unless the interviewer asked him a question regarding his future I thought it was a weird thing to say if it was unprovoked. He's probably got 3 good seasons left in him after this one before he will have to start dropping down the leagues again. He could probably make a mint in the championship for 2 or 3 seasons how that's going to be fair. I don't doubt that we can hold onto him. The only reason we would sell him is if he wanted to leave himself. I really can't see too many top clubs coming in for him. Considering a lot of the top teams play against deep-lying defences most weeks, he would be nowhere near as useful for them.
leicesterisme Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 The Mirror are a shambles as shown with yesterdays story about Garry Monk not taking Swansea's training session.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 How can journalists get away with making quotes up, from a legal standpoint I mean? Isn't it libel?
Voll Blau Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 How can journalists get away with making quotes up, from a legal standpoint I mean? Isn't it libel? The quotes weren't made up, the angle the story was given based on them was unbelievably tenuous. Most journalists at most papers wouldn't have got away with getting that story into print.
lifted*fox Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 Vardy's missus seems like the most level headed 'football wife' ever on twitter. No drama on there, fair play.
Stevosevic Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 If you can read, you can see he didn't say that.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 Thing is with journalists these days you can put 'allegedly' or 'hints at' in front of almost literally anything and that's alright.
yorkie1999 Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 Taken from the mail from September 2014. So he either repeats himself or the Mirror have read an article over a year old and are trying to stir the shit again by twisting round his words talking about Pearson to mean the club. Vardy paid tribute to his manager for having faith. ‘It was a massive gamble but hopefully now I’m repaying him.’ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2764438/Jamie-Vardy-scoring-non-league-just-two-years-ago-flight-fox-box-outperforming-Robin-van-Persie-Wayne-Rooney-Radamel-Falcao.html
Tuna Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 Hasn't this already been commented on in the Vardy and England thread?
ALC Fox Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 Ha! What absolute nonsense. Where's he going to go? As others have said, he's not going to be useful straight away for big sides that teams park the bus against. He'll have to adapt, which will take time. Time that he probably wouldn't have. To be honest he's been lucky to have had the time to adapt with us. Lucky that while he's had poor form, the team has still been doing well, and that he's adapted and come back stronger for the experience. So, where could he go? Palace, Everton or Southampton at best I'd say. Or a sinking ship like Villa, Sunderland or Newcastle. I think he'll stay here, personally.
RowlattsFox Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 We're going to get this kind of rubbish all the time now. Vardy, Mahrez and anyone else who performs well will be 'considering their future' at some point

Ricey Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 He'd be crazy to leave us. He's not a versatile player, but is fantastic at what he does. At Leicester we've built a team around him and play perfectly to his strengths, at a bigger club that won't be the case and will no doubt struggle. It wouldn't surprise me if Liverpool make a bid in the next transfer window, as Klopp will admire his work-rate and defending from the front.
Dan Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 The standard of journalism in this country really is sad.
leicsmac Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 The standard of journalism in this country really is sad. Could be worse, could be living in China.
RedSoxUK Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 Doesn't matter, if someone's willing to offer 20m+ for a 29 year old going on 30, then they we've made absolute killer business.
lcfc48 Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 Vardy probably has made all of those comments but they would have just taken part of what he said and made it out to mean something completely different to what was intended. There are similarities in what's been said to an article in the Telegraph after he got his first England call up (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/leicester-city/11625389/England-call-up-caps-remarkable-season-for-Jamie-Vardy.html). He mentions in that that it's a gamble for clubs to take a punt on non-league players and he makes it clear he had a good relationship with Pearson etc. so yeah he would have been sad to see him go. But a well written, proper article from a respected journalist makes it look completely different to poor journalism that is The Mirror. As for the bit about being contracted to the club, he's obviously been asked a question about potential interest from bigger clubs due to his form and has just given the standard answer that 99% of players give when asked this. They all just say they're contracted to their current club and will do the best for them.
Wymsey Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 The Mirror = . Absolute piece of rubbish of a newspaper.
ALC Fox Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 I think Chelsea would be a great fit for him out of all the top four. Style-of-play-wise, I see what you mean. But when would he play? Would Mourinho stick him out wide ahead of say Hazard? He'd never put Costa on the bench. He'd be limited to League Cup appearances, rounds 3-6 of the FA Cup depending on opposition, and the Europa League if they crash out of the CL. I don't think he'd play often enough to generate any kind of decent form to be honest. He'd back himself to succeed of course and if Costa wasn't there actually so would I now that you pointed Chelsea out. But I can't see it happening.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 61% of people think he will leave in the summer . I hate 99% of football fans in this country.

I don't think it will happen either but it's a bit of a Mexican stand off. As it stands today Leicester would want 25m-30m for Vardy and other clubs would probably baulk at paying that for a 29 year old who isn't proven at this level for a sustained period. I think he'd definitely get plenty of games with Chelsea as he's an ideal forward when your team is under a lot of pressure in a match. I'd pick Vardy over Costa away at Real Madrid or Barca any day of the week.
Countryfox Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 He aint going anywhere so lets wrap this one up. Don't buy the Mirror again.
