Crippling today.

Like really.

Ready to crawl in to a hole and wait for this to all be over. I really hate Christmas, absolute minefield of so many surpressed issues.

I also hate that hating Christmas is some sort of ridiculous big deal to everyone, oh you scrooge, ha ha ha, etc.

Only a few days mate and it will be over and everybody will be onto new year and then beyond. Crack on with a box set to stop yourself having to think and wait it out.

Thanks mate :)

Still in hospital waiting for the consultant to come and tell me my fortune.

Scans show some sort of blockage/twist/stricture/adhesion and still nil by mouth 48 hours on :(

My guess is I might need to go down into theatre for them to operate on it which means I’ll be here for at least another 3-5 days.

Happy fvcking Christmas everyone!!!

:scarf:

Fookin hell Muzzett ...    I hope they get it sorted ...   you keep your chin up mate, there will be a lot of people on here thinking about you ...     let us know how you get on.   :(         And tell the nurses some of your jokes ....     why should we be the only ones to suffer ! ...   :)

I do respect that most on here aren’t religious but for those that are, I’d appreciate your prayers right now :fc:

I’ve been given another 24 hours for this issue to resolve itself through meds and natural causes otherwise I’m going to need yet another operation :nono:

The problem is my stomach already looks like a patchwork quilt and they don’t like to operate on top of old scar tissue.

Fair to say I’m pretty worried and scared at the minute. Christmas is a washout and I’m stuck here but that’s the least of my concerns.

And if prayers aren’t your thing, then any best wishes or good luck my way would be appreciated.

Cheers, Izzy

Sounds awful but as bad as it seems I’m sure that you’re in the best place to get the treatment you need.

Hope your family can get in for a decent bit and when you’re better you can do Christmas all over again.

Stay strong. I’m sure you’ve got a huge number of people rooting for you, including a very large part of the FT family

All the best and hope you can avoid the need for another op, Izzy. See if you can gather your strength and defiance so as to take this on.

The tunnel ahead might seem dark at the moment, but I'm sure there is light a little further along.

If Christmas is a wipe-out (hope it isn't), maybe you could plan some belated festivities in February or whenever it is - promise yourself some good times with people you love and a few belated treats to look forward to!

Are you at Leicester Royal Infirmary, or the General if you're Leicester-based?

Like someone did when Rincewind was ill, some from here you see you etc?

Hope recovery goes smoothly.

Thanks Wymesy and everyone for your kind words - it’s really appreciated right now..

I’m at the John Radcliffe in Oxford as this is one of the top paces in England that specialise in bowel conditions.

It’s about 45 mins north west from where we live, but I don’t really want my young kids visiting me in this state with wires and bags hanging off me.

Not a pretty sight :ill:

Sorry to hear about your problems Izzy, facing the unknown is daunting at the best of times and right now you aren't having the best of times.  Try to stay strong mate, you come across as naturally positive and although things aren't great right now at least you're in good hands.  An op is never something to look forward to but the positive aspects are that it can get you free from pain and vertical again.  And they should discuss the options and risks with you beforehand.

FT needs you, especially this thread.  The sooner you're back to your normal self the better.  I'm not a religious person but I've got everything crossed for you to get all the good fortune that's going.

Christmas is shit. I'm sick of songs telling me that it's the most wonderful time of the year, it really isn't. Hope all of us feeling low make it through the festive period without too much trouble, hope @Izzy Muzzett feels better soon, and @HighPeakFox just pick up the phone if you want to chat, I'm home alone too until Friday after tomorrow ?

Ive had some very bad Christmas times in my time but this years is probably the worse.

I'm clinging to life with my fingertips attempting to convince myself that things will get better. My rational mind knows that and that it cannot get much worse. Or can it? I still have more to lose, it's all there to be lost.

Or things can go the other way. Ive been here before. Two and a half years ago to be exact. I managed in time to open a new chapter in my life, opening doors I never thought I would enter again. So I guess here's my way of convincing myself to get through this and you never know what you can come out with at the other end.

It's great that you're looking at your current problems rationally.  There will be better times, you can get through this.
