Drinky and Vardy in the England Squad

Always the most marketable big club players that play, no matter the manager.

I was going to miss the game anyway so this is good news as I will care even less.

We're the Champions of England ffs. We deserve some more respect.

We could win it again but we'll take a bunch of underachieving and unfit Liverpool, Spurs and Man U players to the world cup.

To be far to Big Sam... If he changes too much and we are terrible pressure is on. If we keep a smilialr team and scraper through, job

done, I think another 6 months and it will be a different side

I think there's a process to undergo here in terms of the changing of the guard.

Sam will give our players and others a shot but not before assessing the prospects of evolution prior to revolution.

Im going to give him a bit of time to experiment before taking what might be perceived of mass risk and a mistake in his early England career - he's Big Sam after all, not Pep Guardiola.

It'll be an iterative transformation hopefully.

Big Sam is playing it safe with that team. I don't think Slovakia will worry too much about pushing forward, because we haven't got much in the way of pace.

At least he hasn't picked Vardy on the left, so I'm going to show some patience. I still think Allardyce is going to be far better than Woy.

Baby steps, you can't just fully change a starting 11 and expect it to work immediately. One thing big Sam knows is these players no how to qualify and that above all things is mission one. If England don't qualify he has no job, I expect to see slow changes over time

Hart has to start in goal given other options, I fully expect Butland to take over once fit and playing again.

The back 4 while not great we have little other options.

Midfield is interesting but Dier was one of the few players who played well in the Euros and Sterling is in form for City.

Not sure about the Liverpool boys or Kane up front, but I think Kane is seen as our number one striker/ corner and free kick taker. Slovakia will sit deep and I am not sure this suits Vardy either.

A nervous 2-1 win for me

Yes Sam! I don't even care about the team. It's 100% for me the mind set of the players.

I love how much stick Henderson gets but when you compare his 90 minute metrics from last season to drinkies they're pretty much similar.

http://www.squawka.com/comparison-matrix#premier_league/2015/2016/jordan_henderson/641/165/86/0/p|premier_league/2015/2016/daniel_drinkwater/641/165/10693/0/p#key_passes/assists/chances_created/goals_scored/interceptions/pass_completion/tackles_won/tackles_lost#90

Could stick out a team from the conference if you want major changes to the line up. Christ. At least see how we look under Sam after 6-12 months before you form an opinion of how good he is or how much of a yes man he is.

Now do a sqawka of drinky last season vs Rooney in midfield. Now tell me Sam has picked the right side.

Having Rooney in there is just embarrassing. After watching us crash out to Iceland I cannot believe that the starting line up is almost identical. We are a laughing stock across the world.

No one can sit there and tell me Vardy and Drinky don't deserve to be in the starting line up. Then there are other players such as Noble who have had fantastic seasons, who have been overlooked yet again. I thought Sam would have big enough balls to give this a proper go. Clearly not.

If Sam makes this starting 11 work then fair play to him but it really is a joke and i reckon the FA do have influence in team selection after this shambles.

Hope we scrape a 1-0 win after 90mins of shit

Thats pretty well how Sam manages? He'll think 'job done' if that happens.

Why would there not be a knee jerk reaction?

The football side is a complete embarrassment! The national interest/expectation is literally rock bottom! Playing a side that got us to this point is only going to make it worse.

The group we have we should pretty much be able to field a championship team (no disrespect to championship players) so to give the BS they could get the job done in qualifying lol why don't we look past the qualification!? We should be planning for the next finals now, building a foundation with players, tactics etc all this, slow transition stuff is a load of crap. New manager, new approach... Get your ideas/message across straight the way not dwindle on it and piss around with a few things.

Kane has 1 goal in the last 11 games going back into last season for club and country.

Rooney has 2 in 11.

Vardy has 6 in 11.

Enough said.

I cannot explain how little I give a shit about the England national team. In major tournaments I'll watch but even then I'm indifferent regards the result

It does appear though that the FA have a presidential role in the team. Much like Real Madrid whereby the money men make all the big decisions and the Head Coach is basically there to do tactics and subs.

I wouldn't have half that team anywhere near the side. Who or what is a Henderson? And what does it do?

Not going to judge until after the game because Sam may use the side differently but it's a predictably safe line up. Why has he announced it so early?

Drinkwater will have to join Spurs or Liverpool to get in. I think Rooney in behind Vardy is worth a try too. Sam isn't a 442 man from what I can remember but why not give that a try.

4-4-2 is a dead formation.

What do they say about doing the same things over and over again while expecting different results? :-/

About the only thing in Big Sam's favour, is that this is a competitive match, when we could really have done with at least one friendly first, just for more experimentation...
