TheMightySystem Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 Tonight showed that he is learning, not taking stupid long shots and the shots he does take are much closer to going in then they used to be. His crossing is also improving. Deserves to start over Albrighton for a run of games rather then being left out after 1 poor performance.
the fox Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 Getting better by the day. Should start next Saturday!
GeorgeTheFox Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 Grew into the game to be fair to him. Was wasteful first half but did his job
Koke Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 Was impresses with his tracking back. If he gets that side of his game right + does his bits in attack like he can do he will be some player for us.

Scored a number of goals like that for England and has been very unlucky on several for us. It's when he goes trying for the blast job where he's pony.
Vacamion Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 There was far more to praise than to criticise. I hope he gets a start at the weekend, but I think CS will start with Mahrez and Albrighton and bring DG on as first substitute after 60.
funkyrobot Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 Let's give it a go with Mahrez on the right and Gray on the left on Saturday. Albrighton ready on the bench if it needs shoring up. 1
Koke Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 I love Albrighton but not exactly sure what he offers us at the moment. Tonight first half most of Liverpool attack came down our right. Robertson and Coutinho had a field day with Albrighton & Amartey. On our left, Gray & Chilwell, they had Ox very quiet. 1
tsintskaro Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 I hope this kid imrpoves cause i cant stand albrighton
the fox Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 (edited) The deference between gray and Marc offensively is bigger than the deference between them defensively, so yeah, start gray! Edited 19 September 2017 by the fox
ZeGuy Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 He did very well today, especially in the second half. Would have liked to see him score or at least have an assist.
Max Power Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 Great talent. Just needs to play games at this point. You can't work out 'decision making' on the bench. Give him an extended run in the team please.
matty98 Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 Impressed with him today, worked hard. Had a few long range shots but that's okay as there wasn't anything better on. Should start ahead of Albrighton on Saturday.
splinterdream Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 Have been saying it but I think gray should start all our games against weaker opposition and albrighton against the big clubs where we're likely to have less possession
CloudFox Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 (edited) I thought he was going to be the same old Gray after the first half, when on a couple of occasions he should have passed or put a striker through rather than run into a blind alley or had a potshot. Credit it to him though, he was much much better in the second half, and put in a shift defensively. Keep that Half's performance up, and look to pass before shooting, and he'll easily keep Albrighton out of the team on current form. The latter's just not on his game at the moment. Babylon Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 (edited) Like many of them, flashes of excellent play and then some crap. But, the likes of him and Chilwell will only learn from their mistakes by playing more games. He is direct and causes a lot of problems when he gets some space. Edited 19 September 2017 by Babylon 1

He's gone off the rails big time. IMO Gray is further ahead in his development than Chilwell. Chilwell worries me as I don't think he's that good.

Only three had a consistent level of contribution. I suppose that can be put down to lack of games, lack of playing together and playing with 10 men until Ulloa went off.
fairbanksh Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 I thought Gray had a pretty good game Always a handful hard working and a bit less selfish Also thought Albrighton deserves some slack Not sure he was clear as to his role
Simi Posted 20 September 2017 Posted 20 September 2017 It's good to see he is learning, as I thought he would. Used the ball a lot better tonight when he got into threatening positions. Still rough around the edges, but the lad is 20. Bundles of talent, certainly knocking on the door of Marc Albrighton now.

Guest Col city fan Posted 20 September 2017 Posted 20 September 2017 Has to be one of the most frustrating players I've ever seen! He's got it all really. He's quick, agile, got good feet and can dribble with the ball. But he don't bloody pass! The number of times Gray does a great run, but then opts to shoot from the edge of the area rather than look up and square it to a fella with so much more space! Surely this can be trained into him?

I agree with you BUT...... At least he is getting there, at least he makes things happen. Mahrez, Knockaert, (Ronaldo - obviously not comparing quality wise) all have received the same criticism. Let's see. I like him. At least when he gets the ball there is a little excited anticipation. He ran all over the place last night too, tackled back and was the first to celebrate with Slimani. Honestly, I think most of the flack he gets on here is down to the way his face looks which, when you think about it, makes those people fvcking idiots. X Edited 20 September 2017 by RumbleFox 4
