He is the one outfielder player, I have never seen have an abysmal game...never understood his lack of games,

before his loan, after his injuries and return...

I think he had a great game today and even more credit should be given with the fact that he can go for so long without being in the team to come in and look like he's been there all along.

No chance....Wes has been superb in the 3 games before today.....Benny was decent today as was Huth although lost Carroll for the second

But Yohan dosent treat the ball like a grenade. If he's played well then Wes dosent deserve to just come in and take his place

It's telling that in every cameo he has played,  he has never disgraced himself. Again another example of the odd tactics/decision making of Claudio. In this case clearly unfairly treated, particularly in a team leaking goals continually.

Eh? Don't forget the rumble with fiorentina over us supposedly defrauding them because we knew of his long term back injury and loaned him to them anyway.

Also, everyone was on his back in his early cameos, complaining about how poorly italian divisions translate to performances here - he's looking good, but its hardly inexplicable that he's not been involved more

Unforgivable to leave Carroll from a corner and when Ayew went through one on one it was his weird positioning that caused that huge space to appear.

These are the reasons this is his first start. He's mobile, decent in the air and very good on the ball, but his defensive intelligence is lacking.

More than capable back-up which is pleasing to know given the combined age of our current starting central defenders. He's easily the most mobile and certainly can pass the ball well. Absolutely loved how he took a shot from the half way line as well and it wasn't off target. Also loved the way he just soldiered on after having to walk around like a T-rex with his battered wrist; bought us some rest, killed a bit of momentum and was pretty funny to watch. The challenge today was always going to be physicality as opposed to sharp movement and skilful play - which I think he did a splendid job at. Wouldn't hesitate at all to bring him on if we need to cling on to a game.

Cannot believe he could walk into the team at short notice and play that well in a really tough second half. We're a few teaching issues in a positional sense but a bleeding excellent display as Steptoe would say . Well done benny ?

.... didn't get to see the game .... work etc .... but from what's been said on here so far I feel really pleased for the guy; he had become almost the forgotten man ... but as many have pointed out throughout he's kept very professional and appears to have taken the rare opportunity very well ... good on him, let's hope we see a lot more of him in a winning side from now on ...

As well as clearly being a decent defender at this level, he also seems to have an excellent attitude, which even further makes me wonder why the hell didn't Claudio select him.

Has anyone else noticed how much happier players like Ulloa are too. He is not any closer to getting in the team, than he was under Claudio, with Musa and Slimani preferred to him, even by Shakespeare, but after the last few games, he has come on the pitch and celebrated and genuinely looks very happy! lol

Bizarre. Hopefully we hear more about what went on with Claudio in charge, as there are just too many signs that there was a lot more wrong, than just being out of form or lack of trying.

I like him and hope he gets more chances, particularly as he is composed on the ball and has good distribution.

You never know, he might become more of a regular considering Morgan and Huths age.

How is he for pace? Can't be any slower than what we currently have
