The correct decision but feels so wrong. 130 odd years ffs. We would all have accepted relegation if promised a one off title win.

It's player power and the modern game now ££££££££.

What concerns me more is the Thais word. Not so honourable and dignified as I thought.

The next free beer/pie/tshirt I will greedily consume with contempt.

It's done now; prem survival please.

Never boring being a Leicester City fan.

what does their unwavering support mean?  For all of us our hearts and heads are conflicted - he has not been ruthless enough and he has paid the price.

I am really sad for CR who was a gentleman BUT agree the time had come to part company, There has been no improvement since Christmas and by his own admission his tactics and selection have been awful. Musa over Gray was just ridiculous. We should have been at least top ten this year. We are in free-fall  and need fresh ideas. Prem survival has to be  the priority and I just don't think CR could deliver. Clearly some of the players feel the same by their likes for the club statement. The owners have invested millions of pounds and for the first time I at least do not worry over the future of our great club. I am afraid football is a cruel game.

I know. Fans actually wanting us to fail because the owners have had the audacity to make a pretty straight forward decision in the best interests of the club.

I feel as if I've just lost a grandparent.

It does. Smashing bloke real gentleman and mature with his attitude. The man is 10000000 a better bloke than bloody Maurine at Man U.

Just feel gutted, but like I said it's business and we've much to lose going down.

Sad but relieved. He will always be a hero and a legend, but this season has been a nightmare. Hopefully someone can get these players motivated again and get us out of this mess. All the best to Claudio though!

Sometimes business just sucks.

Not that I really care but everyone posting comments on the BBC news site now wants us relegated. Can't say I blame them. A bit gutted this evening

Let's face it, we were doomed with him a week ago.

Since then we have been knocked out of the FA Cup to a team with ten men from division 3.

Then yesterday we got battered. How it was 2-1 I will never know, we were dreadful as usual. Everyone is getting a bit a bit of a semi on because of the score line, but it was awful. He plays Musa on the right??? Then wonders why he didn't close down the crosser. The players don't know what they are doing from one game to the next.

I now think we have a much better chance of survival and beating Sevilla than we did yesterday with Ranieri

with a bit of luck seviila could have done us 4-0

With the greatest of respect to Claudio, thank god this decision was made! Now we can remember him for his feats last season and he won't be tainted so much with this shambles of a season if we do go down. Think we've got a chance of staying up now, depending on who we appoint!

Emotions clearly running high but myself and many more on FT believe that CR should have gone at least a month ago based on sh*t results alone but there must have been truth in the stories about bad vibes with the players and Shakey and I am sure this did not help his cause.  Kasper and Danny alluded to this in their recent interviews. I am sure we all want to thank CR for what he achieved last season, an unbelievable achievement and one I thought I would never witness in my lifetime,  many would want him to stay for those purely sentimental reasons but this is a multi million pound industry where there is no room for sentiment also fundamentally a results based business where the owners had little choice , as sad as it is he had to go.

It is sad to see Claudio go but not unsurprising. I would have preferred him to have been moved upstairs or something but a change was needed. That said, the timing is odd. After a decent result last night it doesn't make sense. If he'd been sacked after Burnley or Swansea, that would have made more sense. It's as if they wanted him to keep us alive in the Sevilla tie and then give a new manager a chance to get to grips with things before the home leg

Yes the players should take a long hard look at themselves, but have you ever worked for someone you don't believe in, someone who's methods just don't seem to make sense? If the players suddenly find form I'll think they've cheated him, and obviously us too, but my work rate increases when I'm managed well, when I feel appreciated. It's human nature, and no amount of money really replaces that if you're used to that level of pay. You still need top management.

What was the vote of confidence for then? It's an unforgiving business this and if we do go down the next manager has a valid excuse...

Ranieri will no doubt leave the new guy two letters and a message to ask his successor only to open them when he hits a crisis managing City.

Crisis number 1 (relegation) he will reach for the drawer in his manager's office and take out the first letter which will say  "Blame Ranieri, he was there for 25 games what do you expect?..."

Crisis number 2 (when we get stuck in the bottom half of the championship next season) he will open the second letter which simply says.... "Start writing 2 letters..."

In a way, this decision means Claudio's status as a legend stands a chance of remaining intact.

We're not in the relegation zone, still in with a fighting chance to go through in the Champions League - the owners have taken one monumentally brave decision in order to deflect any resulting shit storm caused be relegation being flung largerly towards Claudio's direction and instead put their heads on the chopping block, not for the first team.

it should also be considered, as owners they have surely achieved more than their wildest dreams so it would be very easy for them to go through the motions now before moving on - this sacking at least shows they maintain that desire to win and progress the club further.

Many in and outside the club will question this decision without considering relevant factors - for me, I applaud the daring and boldness of the decision and understand the merits of making it, so respect it even if there's a little regret that it had to come to this.

I am very sad for Ranieri the man but think it could be the right thing for the football. Only time will tell I suppose. He is like a grandad, I don't want him bothering me all the time and telling me what to do even though his way of thinking is a bit jurasic but I still love him, he's still family and he will always have an endearing aspect because of it.

Posted

Horrible situation but I don't see any signs of improvement from these players under him so what do we do? The media and neutrals will rip us to pieces but fcuk em. They did the same with Pearson going.

Although I love Claudio to pieces and I infaft had a tear in my eye when I heard the news, I feel like this is the right decision. I can't remember were we've put in a half decent performance throughout the entire game, whenever we look good we just look good in small spells, which at the top level isn't good enough. Although I feel that certain players, who I don't need to mention, need to take the blame also, I think that some of the managerial decisions have been somewhat confusing, taking player Musa over Gray yesterday night. Yes, last night was an excellent result but for 70 odd minutes of that game we were absolutely useless and if it were not for Kasper and the woodwork we could have lost that tie by 4 or 5 goals. Like I said I absolutely adore Claudio and I will always remember last season but it's now time to move on as for whatever reason the players were just not up to standard anymore, whether that's Claudio's fault or not is yet to be known. Claudio, you are a Leicester City legend and you always will be.

I've been calling it for weeks as it was clear he had lost the faith and belief of the players. But the news has also sadened me at the same time. He (although I still think he rode a wave, he rode it well though in fairness) gave us the biggest achievement this club, maybe even football, has ever seen.

Long live King Claudio. He will forever be a blue.

Now to get the mighty Pearson back to start rebuild mk2.

Wow. Shocked that it happened after last night's  game where i thought it would have given him a few more games. I for one admit he had to go. Clearly he lost the team awhile ago.  You can blame the players  (and rightly so) but we needed to change something to get our players (also known as ostriches) heads out of the sand.

I never wanted this season to be this way. I dont think any fan wanted to see him gone ever but at the end of the day the club has to sort  itself out before we get relegated. Changing  managers cant guarantee  that but the spiral we are in now hasnt stopped.

Im sure we all love ranieri for what happened  last season and id name my son after him if he hadnt been born before then lol . Will forever be a legend for last season. Thank you claudio for the greatest lcfc memories ever in my lifetime.

Sit back, relax  pop in a bocelli CD and enjoy what you accomplished  last season. Dont worry bout this season to me its water under a bridge now.

Lcfc moves on and hopefully for the better

Terribly sad news, but if we had ended up in the Championship, and that has been our trajectory, he would probably have been sacked anyway. Now at least we can say we tried something.

Mr Ranieri, I salute you.
