Drinkwater

If it's true that he's handed in a request, maybe that's because the deal previously hinged on us bringing in a replacement. If a move for a replacement has fallen through, and he knows it, perhaps Drinkwater feels he needs to force the issue.

This is my feeling on it. Given how late in the window it is, it's a pretty desperate move as he knows he will alienate much of the fanbase should we refuse to sell. It's a balance - if we look like we are going to prohibit players moving onto clubs like Chelsea then some may think twice before coming here.

He will be missed.

My Chelsea supporting mate sums it up well I think - he'll lead the League Cup campaign at Chelsea. How many times have we seen this happen - he'll be the new Jack Rodwell.

He'll be the new Steve Sidwell.

Nothing has been confirmed yet on a transfer request so until it's been stated by either the club or a very good source I won't believe it.

If it's true then I'd be very surprised. I just hope the club stick to their guns and get the price they want for him because he's another player that's worth an incredible amount to us.

So we have mahrez and DD both publically stating they want to leave the club. On any level, that isnt good for the dressing room.

It's not however we can't compete with the calibre of financial might that these clubs have no matter how much we think we can. It doesn't mean there's a problem at Leicester, just that these players think they can further their career and wallets.

Ah yes, perhaps a more relevant Chelsea comparison. All to often a regular from a mid table team gets a move to a big side - how often does it work out?

We have seen this many times with players, move from a club they are loved and doing well to a team like Chelsea or Man City and then just fade away forever.

Maybe he'll play 20-30 games a season for them and do ok. Possibly win some silverware and not be injured all the time as he plays for a club which had invested into a squad where he doesn't have to play every game.

Not being injured will probably mean that he can play for England and appear at a tournament.

**** him. He’s been dog shit since signing a new bumper deal 12 months ago and now he goes and shits on the rest of his team mates and fans by sitting on the bench at Chelsea. ****.

Just let him go, £30-40 million is a perfectly fair price for a player who's been poor for about six months. He didn't create enough last season, Amartey created one less chance than him last season...yes Amartey.

Definitely needs to be replaced but he wouldn't be a big loss.

If us and Chelsea were/are discussing a deal why hand in a request now?

Hope it doesn't make us sell him for much less than what we're holding out for

Transfer request makes zero difference. It hasnt got Mahrez his move cos as Albert said, the owners won't sanction a move if our asking price isn't met. The TR doesn't make Chelsea any more likely to do that.

Sad but true, off the top of my head I can't think of any players that have been a success in this scenario although I'm sure there must be at least one. Can't even say Kante because he left the champions of England at the time.

I'm sure Danny backs himself to become a regular at Chelsea if he moves but with the quality they have in the middle of the park I just can't see it.

Bit daft by Drinkwater if true as it makes no sense to lose a loyalty bonus when it's clear they want him.

City are playing this one well, Chelsea will probably get him but we will want a replacement ready and we will wait until the last moment to get that fee as high as we can.

The panic from Chelsea will begin kicking in now.

I don't have a clue whether it's true, nor whether the Krychowiak rumour ever had any substance, but it's a little weird to see reports of DD handing in a transfer request breaking just half an hour after reports of his supposed replacement going somewhere else.

Such a shame. Up there with my all time favorite Leicester players.

Its unfortunately the nature of the game now that someone would rather sit on a bench and earn more than play week in and week out for a smaller pay check.

idiot. Good luck to him though - can't thank him enough for 15/16.
