Perspective on yesterday

Yesterday Manchester United put out the Premeir League's first £400 million team.

I have seen a lot of people say this player and that player went missing, we were overran in midfield, this showed that this player isn't good enough.

I make out team value yesterday around the £40 million mark (this is only a rough estimate).

Yes we were under pressure, but other than two lapses in concentration. One caused by Uniteds substitution- look at the position Mata took on corners then look at Rashfords, no one picked him up because we hadn't had to in there previous attempts. And the other was offside.

Anyway the original point is for a tenth of the cost of their team we put up a good show.

We shouldn't be judging players on how they go against world class multi million pound teams, but look at them against Southampton, WBA, Stoke, West Ham etc.

Agree with a lot of that.

Looking at the squad Man Utd have and the millions spent it makes you appreciate the 2015/16 season even more.

Its not the result for me, its how we set up and how we continue to make the same mistakes away from home tactically and never learn from them (taking into account last season also)

I have no idea of the actual stats but I do not think there can be a worse team than us in the league when it comes to trying to keep hold of the ball and retain possesion for a period of time.

Stoke were worse last week against Arsenal for possession.

Most teams what goes Old Trafford will set up in a similar way. This includes the likes of Chelsea.

Our team is only worth 40 million?

Yet we want 50 for Mahrez would Probably want similar for kasper, vardy etc.

Can you please stop posting on here Rudkin we aren't taking your lies.

Oh without a doubt they will beat most teams at home this season, I just wish the management had more belief in the players away from home to go and play to our strengths sometimes rather than worrying so much about the opposition, I understand this sounds naive but so many times we have tried the sit back for 90 minutes and defend tactic and it usually ends the same way each time, yesterday was like a free hit for us and felt we could have given it a real go.

Ah well at least its a tricky one out of the way

But that was yesterday's argument; when we hadn't won the Premier League.

Our team was worth less then and we won more!

Bloody hell it was a one off, get over it. It was a glorious, amazing season, we can't judge ourselves forever against that.

I thought we did alright, at the moment of the first goal we was actually creating a few chances and Utd was starting to run out of ideas.

As said there's not a lot more we could of  done, if we had gone gung ho they would of ripped us to shreds.

I think coming away from Old Trafford with a 2-0 defeat is a good result. Teams are going to get tonked there this year!

What's the point in turning up then... I'ts a good job MON never had this attitude otherwise we'd never have got results there (and they had a much stronger side then).

We were okay yesterday. We tried to contain but I sort of expected that at Old Trafford. But our only threat came from Mahrez, that was the issue. They scored from two sloppy mistakes - one of which looks offside anyway and the other is, yet again, poor defending from a corner.

It's a difficult one, I know I'd never make a good manager/coach that's for sure, but 442 away playing the same team we played against Brighton, I don't know. Be interesting to see who plays in the next game as I'm pretty sure some won't be here anymore!

Anyway, it was a free swing as we were expected to lose and I agree I'll be more concerned if we play poorly and lose against the mid and lower table teams which is our level.

Us winning the league was a bad thing.

Not for us, for us it was obviously utterly fantastic and it will be forever treasured.

But it made big clubs who traditionally spend a lot on players spend even more, because throwing money at the league is their answer.

I had no expectations of away points at Arsenal or Manchester United, but we showed a lot more guts and challenge in both games than we did last year, so I remain on the optimistic bus.

That's a poor excuse though, once he's on the man who had mata should be looking where his new man is.

We lost concentration on the corner and the point went with it. The second goal is irrelevant - offside, onside, inside, outside, because if we are still 0-0 that type of attack doesn't happen as we remain compact behind the ball.

Some teams will go to OT and defend for their lives, get a bit of luck and leave with a 0-0 like last season - maybe a 1-1 on occasions. We could have been one of those but that corner ruined the plan.

Sadly the next game is also a toughie!

My perspective is, we have played two of our hardest fixtures this season, we have not been embarrassed and they are now out of the way.

We are more than capable of finishing in the top ten and having a good cup run.

More annoyed about the Drinkwater speculation than anything else but that will be resolved within a few days so I'm just going to try and enjoy the season.

We were dominated from start to finish, we have to accept we aren't as good as some think.

We have a lot of average players, an inexperienced manager, and lack ambition to try and get a result, anybody who sets up to defend for 90 minutes at old Trafford with our team is off their rocker.

The result was always going to be a defeat, I just would rather be defeated trying to win a game, than offering next to nothing in attack, in the hope for a draw.

We have seen this tactic over and over again, and the same defensive mistakes cost us every time, the management need to accept the players aren't good enough to see 90 minutes out without conceding, especially against the better teams.

Shakespere needs to stop picking Okazaki if we are playing like this, the bloke cannot retain a ball, stand up, or offer  anything positive, we need a striker who has the strength and ability to hold it up, to allow the team respite to reorganise.

The manager once he has all available will be crucified if he continues to keep picking his what some see as his favourites, yesterday was slims type of game, and did more in his short appearance, than Okazaki did all game.

I really hope Shakespeare's term works out, but I'm concerned about his ability, and ambition in certain games, he is learning but he needs to learn fast, or he will struggle, winge over.

Were not potential champions anymore, were a mid table side. We can go to Arsenal and Man U with hope but not expectation. There isn't one of their players who wouldn't get in our side and the team with the best players usually wins the game.

Perspective is Man Utd have had three games this season, they've won two 4-0 (Although they have been against 2 poor teams), we lost 4-1 last season in a humiliation, we didn't lose 4-0 or 4-1, we looked fair decent defensively (Shouldn't have conceaded the 2nd, that was quite poor) and I think there was an arguement we deserved a draw.

Ok, we lost and a loss is a loss whether it's 1-0 or 10-0, but there like the Arsenal game were positives, we deserved to win the Arsenal game, we didn't deserve to win yesterday - far from it, we hardly attacked, but you could take positives from the game and whilst its frustrating it's hard to be pissed off.

You could say i'm making excuses, I might be, time will tell when we have games that are 'winnable' and we should be more than holding our own and winning comfortably, if we're not then the excuses and reasoning stop, the moaning and slagging off from me would start but so far this season I cannot complain.

Just think Shakey gives the big teams too much respect and should be more positive .... albeit he has

been restricted with midfield options in the first three games. I'd like to see him start with Gray and Mahrez

in the next game ( assuming they are both still here ) and give it a real go.

Man Utd are gonna win the league. If not they will finish second. We parked the bus but better teams than us (like Chelsea) will go there and park the bus and have 35% possession.

I've seen enough in the first 3 games to believe we will finish top 10. Look at our "rivals" - Southampton, West Ham & Stoke. I'm convinced we're better than all those.

Shakespeare has flaws but at least we are trying to transition into a better passing team. Less hoofing. One of the reasons Mahrez has looked better in the first 3 games is because of less hoofing.

Sign a CB and a CM and we are in business.

As the possession stats repeatedly demonstrate, there is one fundamental flaw in our team - an inability to retain the ball. Not just when we are under pressure but when we are trying to build up play through midfield. Against opposition as strong as United, that weakness is magnified, and it makes for very uncomfortable viewing.

As against Arsenal, subjecting ourselves to relentless pressure through an inability to keep the ball for more than a few seconds at a time eventually took its toll.

Fielding limited footballers like Okazaki and James, who at times treat the football like a hot potato, just adds to the frustration.

I'd say our central midfield is one of the weakest in the Premier League and needs addressing this week. If not, some serious work is going to be needed on the training ground otherwise it will be the same story at home to Chelsea and Liverpool next month.

My personal opinion is some of that man utd side are really overrated. Leicesters performance yesterday was quite impressing considering the price difference in team as you rightly pointed out.
