Horrendous :( and as others have said was very close to being our player not that long ago

Bill Shankly once said “Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that.”
Great man was Bill but he was wrong. Nothing is more important than life. Awful news. Puts it all into perspective. RIP Astori.

Wow. Horrible news. I'm sure we were linked with him at some point under Ranieri? Thoughts go out to his friends and family.

We were linked with Gonzalo Rodriguez, I think. Argie centre half from Fiorentina, he's moved on now mind.

Awful news, really - at that age as well.

Awful news this.

It puts life into perspective. Apparently he passed after coming down with a sudden illness.

Tragic news for his Wife, Daughter and Fiorentina.

I don't get it, if Bill Bloggs of Highfield Rangers died in his sleep there wouldn't be all this RIP on here for a bloke we never knew.

People die, people die young, people die suddenly, people die of illnesses.

Just because he has a relatively high profile in football, people feel the need to express some sort of sadness and "grief"

So no-one should ever make the news for dying?

It's not about making the news, it's about the responses it brings from people on-line who have absolutely nothing to link themselves with "the person" that go "RIP mate, all the best to his family, I feel for his wife and child, etc".

That's fine for his friends and team-mates, but it feels false and contrived when it's some bloke in Rothley, for example.
