You see I don’t respect someone because they’re a great footballer. Ronaldo is an arse and i’ve got no time for him.

I've got respect for him as a great footballer. I go to watch football, I'm not there to judge them or their character.

I personally haven’t and wouldn’t coz im a bitter bastard but I’m sure a tonne of our fans applauded a Wednesday player’s goal the year we got relegated to league 1

Probably have at some point but it really just would have been the bringing my hands together for maybe two claps at most.

Even when there's a cracker scored against us I'm usually looking at our midfield and defence moaning about not closing down, putting at tackle in etc.

It's not so easy when it is a league or cup game against an opponent which plays at the same level, because you want to beat them and you can't help your disappointment - or worse - if they score.

But I do remember the cup game against Leatherhead in the 1970s when City went behind to a non-league side in the cup at Filbert Street.

Leatherhead were loudly and very warmly applauded off the field by the Kop at the end of the match.

And I seem to remember their efforts were greatly appreciated during the match as well.

This was in a distinctly non-sporting era when the customary response to a goal by the opposition was 'You're gonna get your f**king head kicked in!!!', followed by sundry scuffles after the match.

Marc Nygaard was applauded for scoring a 30-yard volley at the Walkers in 2007. Given he'd put us 3-0 down and we were utterly abject it probably stopped people venting anger for a few seconds.

Probably the cvnts in the main stand trying to get me arrested for standing and trying to get people to support our lads.

One of the reasons I don't travel up now. But so fvcking sad a copper said please sit down I don't want to arrest you for doing the right thing.

so if you were one of the ten or twelve behind me that day in the words of the messiah FVCK OFF AND DIE. In my words your a bunch of sad cvnts and I hope you've died so real fans have your tickets.

I think Ruud Van Nistelrooy got some applause for a quite stunning volley en route to a hattrick at our ground for Man Utd.

Man Utd ran out 4-1 winners i think. Keane got the other one.

I'm old school. I applaud all exceptional goals..

Whats the use of competing ,looking forward to beating anybody,if you spend, all

your supporting years, telling everybody everyweek..

"We should beat this lot the're shit/crap. Even top 4,we can take 'em"

My dad never, understood the booing,  when the Opposition ran out,or when

they scored.

Its,so Hard, knowing oneself  is better, than all the dregs that stand arounds one.

I will be quite humble,when I go through the pearly-gates,and St.Peter says,

"you Sir can chose your own cloud, and the Rachel-Riley will escort you,and string your harp"

Perfection and humility can often be a burden....

I could imagine clapping an ex-Leicester player if I really liked him when he was here, but only if the goal didn’t affect us that much.

Out of interest, why do find that Ronaldo is an arse..

Yes, when I have sat in another teams end to watch us, and don't want to be found out. Otherwise, no, but I have nothing against it for a truly spectacular goal.

I was in the Porto end and begrudgingly applauded all 5 of their goals and even had a young kid next to me high 5 me lol

Don't recall applauding a goal against us but have admired a few, last one I can recall is De Bruynes earlier this season against us at home. Just a nice deft touch onto his left and pinged it from about 35 yards, totally deceived our players!!

The Di Maria goal is interesting in a couple of ways, we all seem to have had similar reactions to it and I can bet we were all thinking 'ahh so this is the Premier League' at the time too lol

I believe we were 3-0 or 3-1 down to QPR when we proper shit Circa mid 00's, and Marc Nygaard absloutley rattled one into the top corner from what looked like 35 odd yards and I had to clap, partly because is was a stunning goal and partly because it had somehow come from the boot of Marc ****ing Nygaard.

Got some proper funny looks. Dunno why we were that bad back then appreciating a decent goal from any source was about as good as you could hope for.
