Ben Chilwell: A possible star in the making

Robertson is really good. Shaw has also had a good season but Chilwell has been better than him so far.

That Chilwell shines for us also has the Mahrez vibe to it. To shine in a team like ours is more impressive because Chilwell can't slide the ball into a Firminho / Mane / Salah / Lukaku / Martial!

Liverpool fans have an argument with Robertson. Anyone putting Shaw ahead of him at present must be nuts.

It’s not the ordering of them, it’s the fact that Chilwell must be crap because their player is better... can’t they both be good?

Tbh if he hadn’t got the assist he probably wouldn’t have been highlighted today. Steady game but nothing spectacular and some shocking set plays before the goal.

Thought he was a bit shaky at the beginning of the game, and until the winning goal, poor from the set pieces, but as well as the assist for the winner, wasn`t it Chilly who reacted first and got the ball clear from the one that Lingard cleared off the line too.

Well done Ben.  I wonder if any other club's fans have talked so much shite about a home grown, hard working, 21 year old England player on their books?  I hope he goes from strength to strength.  X

Chuffed for him. So much humble-pie is being eaten by some right now.

The thing is, they don't eat any because they delude themselves into thinking they never slagged him in the first place.  They also often always resort to the classic "a few good games and you are all bumming him, you are just as fickle as the ones slagging him off".  They forget, of course, that most sensible posters on here were not blindly saying he was the second coming but merely requesting to "give him slightly more time before judging".  Shame.  X

How many years do he have on his contract? 2?

Didn't he just sign a new one? Or did I dream it?

Funny to think he's our best in-form player now.

Hey, I like pie, I also love humble pie, what better way of being proved wrong than eating pie. I wasn't harsh on him in the past but I did question his final ball but like any good fan you hope they come good because that's good for us all :)

What I do really like about Chilwell is his determination and willingness to work. Last season Puel opened the door for him, he saw the opportunity, took it with both hands, worked over the summer and came back a much better, stronger, intelligent and composed player.

Similar thing happened with England. Left out, then got back in due to injuries and then performed superbly to seriously put himself into contention for making that left back spot his.

I know one of the coaches who coached him in the City academy, he said what a lovely lad he was, hard working, feet firmly on the ground with a good family giving him good support. It's great to see people like Chilly take their opportunity and succeed, they deserve it.

He's got everything to strive to his potential.

Intelligent, rather quick to react, level-headed and in a club environment where many young players are well-supported and can thrive for a strong future.

I wish Gareth Ben would just take a little more care with his barnet. I know it sounds a bit old fashioned, but perhaps a dab of Brylcreem might be in order.

I bet he gets more gals than you do mi old son..
