Yeah I mean no one ever saw he was highly rated in the last few years or anything and Fuchs wasnt about a year past his best last season

didnt exactly pluck him from obscurity

Like diabate....ahem

Almost like Puel came in and immediately made him a regular rather than Fuchs back up while most of the fan base insisted he was shit... Give the man some credit, Chilwell has developed brilliantly under Puel. Far cry from the man who couldn't take a throw in at Millwall because of the crowd 18 months ago

I will never get any people were writing him off. Yes he made mistakes but it was so plain to see that it was just rawness and inexperience.

It was well documented that Fuchs was the most taken of defender in the league in his last season

Dont think you need to be a Professional football manger to see it.

Not to mention klopp wanting Chilwell as a replacement as left back and the rave reviews he earned under Wagner

What was the alternative to an aging Fuchs

Might need to edit the title of this thread... Taking the season as a whole so far, I'd say he's been our best performer.

Still love Fuchs though. Going to miss that guy!

Still needed a manager to put him in rather than persist with Fuchs, like many on this forum wanted

Super consistent so far. Glad the club didnt dump him on loan in the championship like people wanted. Will leave for a hefty fee within the next 3 years.

I agree with all of the above, I had written him off and am delighted to have been proven wrong.

He's improved massively, and has broken into the England team and looked comfortable.

He'll get better as well.

In that season, fuchs are the main lb until puel take over

Many fans here wished schlupp still here so can loan him out as he's not pl standart

Even after puel come, he still slated so many times and many wished fuchs comeback.

Even now some still wants fuchs over him

It's not as obvious as you said

Reaping the rewards of what sounded like a summer of getting himself fit. Credit to him as it’s added so much now he can get up and down the left for 90 minutes. It’s almost a similar transition that Bale went through.

Well played sir!

He’s been worked in well and been given time to improve, starting off as a Fuchs understudy to cementing the position for himself . Everyone involved in his development has played it perfectly from keeping him here and not loaning him out to managing game time. Not something Puel deserves full credit for but he’s certainly played his part in putting a bit of extra faith in him.

He has turned into a monster this season. I used to get excited when Mahrez got the ball, now I get excited when Chilwell gets it.

I reckon he nails down England's left back spot this season. He looks a hell of a player and he's consistent and reliable. Why try and work around Shaw's fitness and whether or not Rose is in the first team when Chilwell is outplaying them both anyway?
