Wolves H Post Match Thread 2-0

Not getting this Evans hate at all.. You would think he made numerous mistakes which resulted in them scoring a hatfull. He had a shaky 20 minutes mainly because he was getting dragged out wide due to Ricardo being out of position and allowing balls over the top in to that left wing channel. After that he was as solid as you like and helped in defending set pieces. We also finished with a clean sheet, something which we miss out on all too regularly.

Ricardo for me seems much more comfortable as a Winger or Wing back and definitely has moments of brilliance. Mendy was fantastic and him and Ndidi could be a very solid midfield pairing, my only concern is a potential lack of creativity.

Vardy challenge was a definite red after seeing the replays, excessive force and could have broke the lads leg. Thought Iheanacho looked decent when he came on and he might benefit from a run of games now.

A very tough 2-0 win, we got better as the game went on.

Wasn’t convinced with Albrighton and Ricardo in the first half, we looked more balanced when Amartey came on and gave Ricardo a more attacking role, it would give us a much better cutting edge in the future if Ricardo is pushed forward.

Mendy very good, but against a disjointed newly promoted team at home. A good start to the season for him but he needs to play like that against an established prem team to  change opinions.

Encouraging start though.

Absolutely unbelievable that anyone on here can argue that it was not a red card... beggars belief...

with video evidence too.

I was in the family stand and it looked reckless, winning the ball or not it was a definite red.

Have a day off

lol watch it again, he plays the ball out to chilwell. Look, if Doherty is actually in the challenge and you've gone in with that power, fair, red. That the lads bottled the challenge and arrived so late that he's ran into the follow through on a pass, he deserves everything he got. Don't see how it's fair to be sent off because your opponent bottled it.

Chilwell and Mendy vying for motm - Where's col now?

Ricardo had a great first half, not so good in the second.

Ndidi was very good.

Gray is looking better and better

Kasper was ok

Maddison was not in the first h hour much but then played great

Maguire, Albrighton fine without being anything special

Evans started poor but came good in the second half

Vardy was stupid to get sent off.

3 subs came on and did okay.

Iheanacho to get a chance to stake a claim.

Boring.

Vardy's moment of madness (you can take the player out of the non-league but not the non-league out of the player) turned the game into attack v defence.... and Wolves failed to take what was on offer. Their bad, we got 3 points and looked like the more likely team to score the third.

Vardy's walking a line methinks. He doesn't really fit our new style of play (maybe frustration got the better of him) and now Nacho has a very real chance to stake his claim. Vardy might well be 'Mr LCFC' but equally maybe Puel is thinking the unthinkable. Moment's like today will make that decision easier.

Spot on... after the crazy first 20 or so, I don’t think Wolves looked like scoring.

We were a very solid unit and they only got in behind us once after we took the lead. People must remember that Evans was injured halfway through pre season and this was his first lot of minutes for a few weeks.

Evans started off poor due being exposed down the right by Periera a couple of times, settled down and him & Harry played well. Periera was brilliant after his wobbly start as were most of the players. Thought Vardy looked out of sorts today maybe due to lack of service, first view the red looked harsh. Mindy & Ndidi looked good together and Maddison was top notch. Thought Puels subs were good and Iheanacho played his socks off.

Terrible arrogant Ref and I hope he follows Madley an fecks off...

Certainly not boring! Indeed a fine match to enjoy. Some sloppiness gave them too many chances and we lack a cutting edge.

I think that you may be right about Vardy and Puels system, but let's see how 'Nacho gets on next few games.

Perhaps that's why we just offered him a four year contract making him our best paid player?

Tifo was decent but why so early?

Just a presumption but I think a lot of people complain that they can’t see the players coming out.

Back to the game. Not getting the Evans slating. Numerous times he was caught was because Ricardo was out of position. Thought Albrighton had a stinker, nothing came off for him.

Albrighton put the cross in for the first goal, albeit a rather hilarious defensive header own goal.

Mendy could have solved the 'who plays alongside Ndidi' problem at a stroke. Real zip and purpose to his play today. Tackling was excellent. And his passing was good too.

I can see now why Porto fans were lamenting Ricardo's departure. He looks a top-class buy. Fast, skilful and - well, just quality.

Maddison is class too. We didn't get him in the game enough today but he looks a proper number ten.

Evans recovered from a terrible start, in which we were incredibly lucky not to concede.

As for Vardy's red card, we've become conditioned in recent years to view challenges like that as 'reckless' and therefore worthy of a sending off, so he should know better, but the fact remains that he clearly won the ball, so it wasn't a foul.

The first and last 25 minutes were a difficult watch for different reasons but a win's a win. And although we undoubtedly rode our luck today against a good Wolves side, that's all that matters.

Onwards and upwards...

Excessive force? He certainly went in hard but wasnt even a freekick imo.

Under 9's maybe the ref stops the game to see if the lads got a boo boo.

Laws of the game he’s off, both feet off the floor, out of control and reckless... no excuses it was a red all day long.

We will have to agree to disagree but if one of the Wolves players had flown in on Ricardo like that we would have all been baying for a red card.
