Today for me is a sad day to see Andy King excluded from our 25 man squad for the 2018/19 season effectively ending his Leicester city career it seems.

King seems to have divided a lot of fans over the years but one thing nobody can deny is the fact he has been a loyal servant to the club's for years which is incredibly rare these days. For that he has gained many supporters respect.

From making his debut in the championship and dropping down to league one and climbing back uoto where we are today  he has been on that journey with the club in its most successful period ever and he has played a crucial role over the years at times.

Winners medals at league one  , championship, and Premiership and out most capped international ever.

Reaching the highs that we have his opportunities has been fee and far between bit being the club man he is he has never complained just got his head down and got on with it.

I wish him luck wherever his next club will be if it's in coaching or still playing or both.

For me a real Leicester legend.

+ our highest scoring midfielder of all time

I actually think king has been treated really badly by the club over the last 5 years or so. He truly had the potential to be a top class midfielder but harshly was not given enough minutes just as he was coming into his prime years. Truly sad.

I think you have to question why Andy King has chosen to stay here if that's the case.

Bit of a shame and slightly disgraceful behaviour by the club, really. At 29, there's still a good player in there. Maybe not a regular, but a force to be reckoned with in terms of super sub.

Wish he would've treated with a bit more respect and not gotten served like this.

But with Maddison, Silva, Iborra, Ndidi and Puel's new old favourite Mendy back to his old self, no chance of him making the squad any longer.

All the best for your future endeavors, Andy! You will always be remembered fondly for what you've achieved as a player and the goals you scored for us early into your career - League One, Championship, Premier League, Premier League champions, Champions League, EURO 2016 semi-finalist. Stuff dreams are made of.

I can't understand why they didn't let him go on a free during the window - why hold on to him only to leave him out of the squad? he could have found him self a nice championship club and without a fee he could have gotten a reasonable wage -  any one know how much he gets with us and how long his contract is?

They may well have let him go on a free, but that would still depend on another club paying his wages.

I'm sure with his contract, even if he is not in the 25 man squad, he will still get paid by the club a Premier League wage!

Without being ITK, wouldn't have a clue whether he was given a choice of wage cut and moving or keeping his wage and not playing - but money will play a role in this decision somewhere along the line.

Loyalty, lifestyle etc. Not everyone wants to move across the country when they are settled.

But this is how it should be. All of the players mentioned above are arguably better, more effective players than king for one reason or another. And when you have players like Choudary coming through then it isn’t fair for King to stand in their way either.

Sentiment is all well and good but we need to progress year on year and King just isn’t in our plans.

It doesnt detract from what he has offered and he will always be remembered as a (genuine) legend but that doesn’t entitle him to a place in the squad.

Long live the King.

Been through it all with us and for how great he is to our club we can not afford to carry a player due to his previous history and status with us.

will never be forgotten surely will take up a coaching role at the club.

Even if Puel prefers or trusts James more which is understandable it doesn't make sense to omit King and name James as one of the 25 when the latter is currently injured.

It’s a shame it has come to this but for him to still be here it suggests either no one wanted him or he doesn’t want to take a cut. We’ve got so many options in centre midfield we can’t give him a place in the squad, even as an emergency. We need to name Simpson just in case.

King is up there with my favourite players in my lifetime, all because of what he has given the club and what the club means to him. I hope he can get something sorted because he shouldn’t be rotting playing reserve football.

Yes indeed, happy enough to be a bit part player as we improved, and that says he didn't have the drive to reach the very top.

Hero but nothing lasts forever and, in reality, he isn't good enough to play every week. His record speaks for itself, regardless and all those key goals he scored for us can't ever be taken away.

To be honest, I'm astonished that he's only 29. He's been at the club forever and the one constant since we got relegated to League One – what a journey for him and the club the past 11 years has been.

While he generally tends to be underrated, he could still do a job in the Premier League – just not for a club that is looking to push itself into the top 10 in my opinion. The Swansea fans loved him when he went there at the end of last season – and many said he was their best midfielder over the 15 games or so that he was there. Proof that he could do it elsewhere and that he hasn't been a single club man simply because of money etc.

Looking at our squad at the moment, however, I can't see a role for him beyond a backup.

A truly hardworking footballer who has, as far as I know, always been a credit to both himself and our club. Hope we do a little something for him when his time comes to leave.
