Steve Walsh and Muzzy Izzet are my all time favourites. Obviously love the more recent players like Vardy, Mahrez and Kante but as a kid the connection I felt to Muzzy and Walsh was incredible and would have them on most shirts I owned. Also big fan of Savage at the time, Matt Elliot another. Centre backs were always quite popular for me as that was my position in my Sunday league team.

Had some random favourite players too, I remember liking Nils Erik Johansson for some reason, and will always remember his last minute winner at Preston.

I wish we had a midfielder now who could score worldies from 35 yards like Peake did.

Andy King

Or at least he used to.

Gary Mills for me.

Also Nicky Platnauer is a good laugh.

I was trying to answer this question and partnerships kept coming to mind rather than individuals -

Lineker and Smith

Heskey and Cottee

Okazaki and Vardy

This threesome needs a mention too: Lennon / Savage / Izzet

Lennon and Savage went down in my estimations when they played for Forest and Derby

For me, prior to the 2015/16 squad as a whole, it was Heskey, Cottee, Guppy, Izzet and then Dyer, Nugent, Kingy

This one's leftfield and old and I can't remember why I liked him so much.

Maybe it was his smile or the way he played ?

Or it could be the fact that  I loved cannon and ball, who were on the telly around the same time, and he looked remarkably similar to Bobby Ball ?

It is of course Bobby Smith

Think he moved to Lutterworth. He did live a few doors up from me in Harborough about 12 years ago.

Saw him in a car park in Harborough about 20 years ago, and I just started singing “it’s not god it’s only Andy Peake” it was completely involuntary and embarrassing. Nice bloke, he came over and had a chat.

Yep always very friendly

Matt Elliott due to me living in Oxford and all my mates being Oxford fans, the kicking I got when we signed him was worth it as he was a whole hearted, no nonsense defender who gave everything for the club

Posted

Dave Gibson

Peter Shilton

Lenny Glover

Graham Cross

Mark Wallington

Alan Smith

Gary Lineker

Steve Lynex

Matt Elliott

Neil Lennon

Esreban Cambiasso

Jamie Vardy

Wes Morgan

Kasper Schmeichel

Riyad Mahrez

Ngolo Kante

They're all the obvious ones.

Then maybe not the best players but ones who stand out for other reasons:

Marc Albrighton - for his goals against Brugge and Sevilla (probably my most celebrated goal ever)

Leo Ulloa for his goals against Norwich, ManUtd and West Ham

Lloyd Dyer

Rooster Russel

Steve Whitworth

David Nugent

And that squirrel who ran on the pitch against QPR, he started it all. ;)

Izzet, Lennon, and dare I say it, Robbie Savage. I was a lucky boy spending my formative years watching those three buzzing around the midfield. Honourable mentions to virtually all our centre halves from that era too, and Kasey Keller who I thought was so cool because he was American.

Never thought anyone would surpass Walsh from my days growing up, but Vardy is doing a good job.

Just needs to wallop the Wolves captain and it's done.
