AaronGTFC Posted 1 November 2018 Posted 1 November 2018 Apologies this has taken the best part of a week to register and post. I'm a Grimsby Town fan and I just wanted to say there are no words to describe the sadness and shock of what happened on Saturday night. We all like to have a moan about tactics and subs made by our manager's but this is a stark reminder that some things are more important than football. Obviously Vichai was known for what he helped make happen on the pitch but also his charitable donations off the pitch will benefit many people for years to come. I am actually at Grimsby Train station now waiting for the train and I am on the way to the King Power to lay a Grimsby Town scarf, I think it's important for opposition fans to show their solidarity at times like this and whilst we don't know each other or have contact with each other and support other teams but as football fans we are all one great big family. I won't be signing the book of condolence at the ground as I wouldn't want to take a place in the queue with me not being a Leicester fan, I have however signed the online book of condolence. RIP Vichai

RIP Vichai That's a really lovely gesture. If you were to sign the book, I don't think any Leicester fan would mind - in fact I think most would be appreciative you made the effort. Personally, I've been quite overwhelmed by the comments and actions of non-Leicester fans. When these books get passed to the family and they're reading through the comments about Vichai's impact and legacy, I think seeing what he meant to the wider 'football family' could be a small source of comfort for them. I hope you have as good a trip as you can, under the circumstances.

Sharpe's Foxes Posted 1 November 2018 Posted 1 November 2018 Didn't the title say he was 61 yesterday? Could have sworn it wasn't 60 before.
WoodyFox Posted 1 November 2018 Posted 1 November 2018 Wow, Claudio and Top stood side by side really got me... memories of the title winning season along with everything that’s happened since Saturday.

Jaspa Posted 1 November 2018 Posted 1 November 2018 Found myself looking around google images for some of the moments of his life and was alittle curious to see what he looked like when he was younger, the first pic is the earliest I could find https://www.scmp.com/sport/soccer/article/1907125/leicester-citys-thai-owners-hoping-cash-clubs-stunning-season Quote According to an interview last year in a local luxury magazine, Vichai, one of Thailand’s top 10 richest men, studied in Taiwan and the United States as a child. His interest in the duty free business began during his school days in Taiwan, because flights back to Thailand stopped over in Hong Kong. “As I grew up I saw duty free businesses from all over the world. I found it an interesting business ... so I said to myself I might be able to do it,” Vichai told Praew Magazine. He began as an agent for luxury brands before investing in a duty free business in Hong Kong that he eventually acquired. According to Praew, he developed contacts at home and won lucrative concessions to run duty free shops from Airports of Thailand, the mainstay of his private company. The country’s king bestowed on Vichai and his family a new surname, an act seen as a great honour in the country, where the monarch is highly revered. Vichai’s passion for sport, particularly polo and soccer, led him to England and a shirt sponsorship with Leicester City. He came then to acquire the club for a reported £39 million. “The day that we bought the team, I can say that we made a 30-minute decision,” said Aiyawatt. “It’s something that we love. We went to the stadium, and we loved the crowd.”
Carl the Llama Posted 1 November 2018 Posted 1 November 2018 At the ground now, unbelievable how many people are here. Eerily silent too. So much love down here
Livid Posted 1 November 2018 Posted 1 November 2018 Actually thinking of going down on Saturday afternoon (Yes I know we're playing) in the hope it's a little quieter. Just the way I am.
Durnerz Posted 1 November 2018 Posted 1 November 2018 Really strange atmosphere down there today - almost like a match day with all the police, media, roads closed off, fans all in their colours. Beautiful in many ways. Found it hard to keep it together after swapping stories with fans who have been following the club way before I was born. Signed the book of condolence too. Genuinely stunned by the support for Vichai and the club from both our fans and those around the world. Very emotional, it brings a smile to your face and a tear to the eye.
Carl the Llama Posted 1 November 2018 Posted 1 November 2018 Whoever made this has brightened up my day. Great work
DerbyshireFox Posted 1 November 2018 Posted 1 November 2018 Puel's statement for Vichai Claude Puel began today’s press conference. “This has been without doubt one of the hardest weeks in this football club, the tragic loss of five lives has left us numb, with sadness and shock. “Our love is with Vichai’s family and the other families who have lost loved ones. “Vichai made Leicester what is is. He made it a family, he invested in the club, invested in the city, invested in the people. He truly was loved inside and outside the club. “Personally it was privilege to work for him, the belief he showed in me and the great moments we shared. “Seeing all of the messages, shirts, flowers, shows the amount of lives he touched. He leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered and a vision that the club and myself as manager will take forward. “I have never been prouder to be manager. In difficult circumstances, the togetherness shown by everyone, has shown what a special club this is. “The football has not been at the front of our minds, but we will play to remember the man that did so much for our club.”

Collymore Posted 1 November 2018 Posted 1 November 2018 @UpTheLeagueFox Just like to say thanks for all of your coverage over the past week. It means a lot to me (and I think many others) to have one of our own commentating on this tragic event rather than some media robot.
Mendi Posted 1 November 2018 Posted 1 November 2018 Any fans thinking off going to the owner funeral.

It must be very difficult being a Leicester supporter and carrying out your work in the media this week. Yes it was me reading out the statement on Sunday night on talkSPORT. I was doing okay professionally until the last paragraph when the personal feeling got me. 4 minutes ago, Collymore said: @UpTheLeagueFox Just like to say thanks for all of your coverage over the past week. It's been a rough few days for us all and I hope I've been able to try and convey some of the mood from the city and how the fans are feeling. I was sobbing in the car on Monday morning when they played out that montage package. I know talkSPORT gets some stick, including on here and I understand it's not everybody's cup of tea, but how they made that montage was damn impressive, not to mention emotional.
