I'd be fine with a loan whether it's a "swap" with Silva or not, but only if there's a buy option for the summer.  Without it this makes no sense for us.

thats what id a thought tbh, as much as a loan is good for all parties, we need to make sure we can buy the player in the summer. certainly will cost more than £20mil they paid for him, certainly expect it to be more than £25mil with a certain % sell on the monaco as well

Cracking signing if we can get it across the line. Doing a swap deal means we can save money until the PL payments come in for the summer. We will have so many young talents. Definitely need a couple of older heads coming in for the summer to guide them. A player like Delph(not saying we could get him or would be on our radar) but someone of that ilk to lead our young lads.

I can't say I can get excited about a loan deal for 14 games. If he does well in the PL then it's unlikely he'll be coming back here.

Exactly. Otherwise we could invest half a season in getting his confidence back, only for Monaco to grab him back again.

Only issue with a loan is that if he does well a bigger club could  come in or the fee goes up.

all depends on the deal thats struck, we could do a deal where we can make it a permanent deal in the summer after the loan

Like I said - in my mind I'm thinking August 2020.  The rest of the season to settle, 2019-20 to go out pissed off and show Monaco where to eff themselves, and a massive sale in the summer window.

Has anyone monitored his actual form and play this season in terms of watching much of Monaco? 

 

I worry that a lot the hype could be FIFA enhanced. I was excited when we signed Sliman and Silva, such experiences have slightly dampened my transfer fire. Hopefully this one if goes through will work out better, fingers crossed!
