Classic Dorsett, here’s what was actually said

Now is that business in the context of a defender only or just business in general ?

Once again sky twisting the words.

Huge, huge difference in the 2 interviews there. One suggesting a replacement was needed, another saying we don't need one. Id bet the same was said to both, one has just twisted it incredibly.

Yeah as if Rodgers is going to come out and say the fee we’ve got and how great business it was, transfers are done in the shadows particularly at Leicester

Theyve spent all summer arguing to sign him and if he's worth it. Now they reckon they have the best back line in the league? The arrogance man

Brilliant. They are suggesting VVD and Laporte dont have a good partner yet are also suggesting Lindelof to be a strong partner for Maguire. They are the most dilusional fans, it's actually staggering! I genuinely don't think they know how to deal with the fact that they are not very good anymore compared with the top teams across Europe. And if they think Maguire and evem Dybala are the answer to all their problems then they really are clueless. Whilst them 2 would be excellent signings for them, they still don't have a decent lb that isn't overweight and injured every 5 minutes and their midfield is piss poor apart from Pogba who is a menstrual cycle of a footballer and only turns up once a month. Not to mention  the fact they still have a very inexperienced coach.

Not so. He seem to have made it clear he would like to go IF the club agrees a fee. Beyond that he has behaved like a true pro according to everybody involved.

No complaints from me whatsoever regarding his behaviour

‘According to everybody involved.’ How do you know?  He hasn’t said a word on the subject himself publicly at any point, all of his bidding has been done via the press. He hasn’t said a thing, that’s the frustration. He leaves as a undoubtedly talented player but definitely not a legend, winning nothing and spending 50% of his time with us not quashing the Man U stories that started after just his first season with us.

Exactly This.

Our deals aren't done in daylight for all to see. As you said, no way a boss as experienced as BR says what sky are stating

Changed his tune...

We found Maguire best with the Evans to help manage him. Lindelof and Shaw aren't anywhere near Evans in experience levels. We could genuinely see him be shakey for a while until he clicks in

Interesting that the full quotes are used for the BBC version, however only 2 small snippets are used for sky. They then use their own agenda for the last section. They have now lost their maguire story for next week but now have a brand new Leicester cb story chase. Utter bunch of tw*ts

Cant understand those wanting Ake. Hope we don't spaff a massive amount on a player who could be a liability. Feel Ake is too lightweight.

Not overly impressed with any we are linked with out of the premier with the silly prices quoted.

I can understand a bit of a premium for consistently capped international players but these are bang average players and the figures quoted are more that Tielmans....crazy

I think if I was a man utd fan I'd be more worried about this than we should be, to pay £85 million for Magurie is madness yep he's a good player but he's never worth £85 million.

One one hand, we've lost a lot.  We aren't likely to bloody Man City's noses again without Harry bringing, and especially PASSING, the ball out against their pressure.

On the other, if he had to go, there's no arguing with the price received (80M or 85M).

Going to miss Maguire’s runs through the lines. Wish him all the best in his move (except when he’s playing us of course)

Money for goals..... please.

Goals are what get us top six and league titles. Buy another prospect like Soyuncu or Benkovic if you must. Don't get bent over for mediocrity. Please.

So... Apart from Ake, Tarkowski and Dunk, which other 10 players are we looking at getting to replace Harry then?

Maguire has gone from bolt onto the team sheet to a good degree of uncertainty. If his new side don't hit the new season running then it'll be a hangover from the poor end of last season that'll likely see the manager gone before the year end. If that happens then Maguire could quickly fall out of favour and become another Manchester club seat shiner. Its not a dream move like Man C would have been and its clearly second best for Arry but apparently a big step up from Leicester City.

The high price tag will bring with it high expectations. I'd much rather just have the money in the bank than having to fulfil the expectations derived from an inflated transfer fee..

'Ake, Dunk, Tarkowski plus the other 10 names'

Sounds like we will be bringing someone in to replace Harry?

Would prefer to put our faith in Soyuncu ..

Sky will be son desperate for us to spend the dosh now to keep the saga going. It will be wall to wall who is slapping what price on who or so and so tell Leicester hands off our players etc now. This is the biggest deal of the window and the thought of us just banking the cash is anathema to them.

That said I hope we pull a rabbit out of the bag and make a huge signing, at a knock down price, in another area of the squad. That would show everyone that we are actually massive now and really going for it. If that doesn't happen I'm with Brendan in that we go with what we've got cos we looked very slick at times tonight against a champions league team.

Not convinced it is the right move.  10 years ago it would have been a dream move, but it's clearly a place desperately trying to paper over the cracks right now.  It'll all come crashing down at some point this season.

What annoys me is the way in which he's gone, literally a sneak out of the back door type of exit, hoping noone notices.  We deserve better than that, although I'll give him another 24 hrs to address this.

These contracts though, just a bargaining tool these days, mean bugger all.  Agents.  Fees.  Something needs to change.
