Popular Post Finnegan Posted 23 July 2019 Popular Post Posted 23 July 2019 Last time we signed a foreign midfielder who really wanted to go elsewhere it didn't end up too bad. 8 1 2

Lambert09 Posted 23 July 2019 Posted 23 July 2019 (edited) If we do go for him instead of McGregor I think it speaks volumes about Brendan. It would be easy to stay safe and go with the player you know. If he’s willing to take the gamble because this players glass ceiling is higher he has the ambition that we all want our manager to have! Edited 23 July 2019 by Lambert09 1

Winger, striker, sell all the over paid crap we’ve got soaking up our wage FFP nonsense and we’re in business to win the league. (Yes Andy K, I do mean you.) Calling out Kingy as "soaking up wages" ahead of Slimani and Silva. Okay 9 1

Ric Flair Posted 23 July 2019 Posted 23 July 2019 Plays the game evry much like Marc Albrighton but centrally, looks like him at a glance as well. We all dream of a team of big nosed Marc's.... 1

FoxyJim1987 Posted 23 July 2019 Posted 23 July 2019 Money talks, he will go to the club who pays him more, which is likely to be us.
Billy Big Balls Posted 23 July 2019 Posted 23 July 2019 Never seen him, know nothing about him but if he's mates with Youri, sign him up. Keep the sweet Prince happy at all costs. 1
volpeazzurro Posted 23 July 2019 Posted 23 July 2019 I know very little about him so this is not an opinion, more of a set of observations and questions. Are we the only Premiership team interested? If so, what is it about him that makes people think he's 21m better than what we've already got in midfield? Are we signing another Silva or Iborra who on paper had arguably better pedigree but couldn't adapt to the physicality or pace of our game and let's face it, the pace of Serie A is a holiday stroll in comparison. Would we not be better served saving the 21m, adding a bit more and buying the winger some want or player in a more attacking vein? Not being negative but this talk of assisting the assister sounds a bit contrived to me in order to make a simple game sound more complex. Have we even tried to get Choudhury or Mendy to play a slightly more attacking role, at least physicality and pace of the game are none issues for them. You can buy too many shiny things. 1
urban fox Posted 23 July 2019 Posted 23 July 2019 Thought this was a non starter, offer turned down and the player didn't fancy it either. Has something changed or just recycling old rumours?

Popular Post jeffschlupp Posted 23 July 2019 Popular Post Posted 23 July 2019 There are far too many people on this forum focused too much on the starting XI, and yet in December when we get to a League Cup quarter final they will complain because our first team players are too knackered to start, leaving average players like James and King to take on a top side. You cannot go into a season playing two forward thinking no.8s with only Maddison and Tielemans that can play that role. Choudhury offers something different, and Mendy and Ndidi play the deeper role. As I've said earlier in this thread, the fact people think 6 players for 3 midfield positions is too much is completely beyond me. This is a club that was so short of midfield options 5 years ago we sat and watched GTF and Hammond hold the midfield at Stamford Bridge on the second day of the season. Let's not have something like that happen again. 7

Kinda answers my own question about about 5 posts back.
