McGregor was intended to be back up for Maddison and I can see Praet as the same type of player.

Completely agree with that, SO1.  As soon as I heard about the Praet connection, I thought, "a McGregor deal must be off" - though you could be right, it could be a ruse to get McGregor. 

 

They are very similar types of player.  However Praet will cost a hell of a lot more - and while McGregor at below £20m could be seen as a squad player / back up to Maddison, Praet (at £30m+) will only happen if he sees himself as a first choice.

Both play ridiculously deep, Praet plays much higher up the pitch and yet his goals and assists are the pits.

Praet valued around £20-25m by the sounds of it.

 

Seems a decent player who has always had quality but not quite hit the top heights yet, but just turned 25 and seems to be getting better.

 

Not sure how he fits into BR's thinking, but I'd expect a player of his quality to be starting most games for us.

 

Still think a winger should be our priority and maybe still is, but I certainly won't begrudge having another top CM added to the squad. 

 

I just hope it isn't at the expense of Choudary, as think he could have a big future with us.

Pricing for Praet varies from 15 to 26 mil depending on the source.  Who knows?:dunno:

We have 3 players capable of playing striker. Prefer attempts of signing a winger than anything else
