Popular Post Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 11 December 2020 Popular Post Posted 11 December 2020 Think he'll get a move based on reputation rather than ability. Was chuffed when we signed him, and for what he cost we've hardly lost out - but he hasn't kicked on whatsoever. I don't think he's currently a tangible improvement on the lad we signed. Look at the progress of more than a handful of other young players in his time with us and it highlights what an underwhelming disappointment he's been. Clean break is for the best but he'll be in his mid-thirties and folk will still be talking about his potential. 5
Koke Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 (edited) Finally that #7 shirt can be given to an actual first team player. Edited 11 December 2020 by Koke 1

Koke Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 Gray is crap. But the only defence I have for him is that out of his 168 appearance he has started 75 and came on as a sub in 93. He never got a solid run in the team whereas other players (like Chilwell) was allowed to play crap under Puel under the guide of "he's developing". 93 subs is mental tbh. https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/history/players/?pid=1558 Perhaps Gray was destined to be an average player anyway but I do wonder if Gray was given the same patience and trust as Chilwell was given would he be a better player now? 2

We don't need another Matty James situation. Matty James is a crook that nobody is willing to buy. Gray does have some monetary value. Schlupp went for £12m so Gray could easily go for £15m 1 1

I'm guessing so we can get a fee for him instead of losing him on a free transfer. The club should have accepted whatever Bournemouth offered few years back tbh. 1

Exactly what "impact" is he being planned for? Edited 11 December 2020 by NaijaFox
Angus Scott Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 I really do not get the hatred for him on here, I really find it quite depressing that one of our players is abused in this way. Of course this follows on from Chilwell who got similar treatment, again I have no idea why. He's not doing too bad now is he. When Gray has gone, I wonder who the next player will be to attract all the vitriol of the football experts on this forum. Perhaps we could start a sweep on it. Even more amazing is that the completely useless Nacho seems to be idolised by most. Baffling 2
M0901 Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 Good luck to DG, shame it didn’t work out but I never wish any player any malice. He had some promising glimpses and a couple of excellent moments, but it’s best for him to move on. I hope he kicks on and reignites his passion for the game. All the best Demarai!

nnickn Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 he just cannot get it together, his speed, ball control, his build all the ingredients are there, they just don't seem to gel together. Good Luck Demarai.
North Leeds Fox Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 Will never forget his goal against Cardiff. Shame is hasn't worked out for him but for less than 4 million, it was a risk worth taking and it hasn't worked out. Hope he does well in the future. 1

Baffling I guess it's okay to "hate" only those players whom you personally dislike? Even discarding the "baffling" irony of your post, hope nobody considers my comments here as "hatred". Wish Demarai the best in his career, but just "baffled" with offering a new contract to a player not being used at all. PS: Btw, criticizing players does not amount to hatred. Beechey Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 Good luck, thanks for the Cardiff goal. However, he should probably have been sold last summer or before that. There was a time when his stock was quite high.

Chilwell consistently delivered, played regularly for England and was a regular in the team because he performed - regardless of what some on here say. Gray was given chance after chance and never strung two decent performances together. Gray and Chilwell are on two completely different levels in terms of football ability. 2 1
