The old one was funny but referenced Maguire too much and was a bit cringe. This one is very good for atmosphere! Don’t know how it sounded on the TV but it was very good in the KP today.

I saw a comment earlier today somewhere non-LCFC related suggesting it was ludicrous that we seem to think Soyuncu is better than Maguire. They obviously haven't been watching us play.

 

I feel pretty confident saying CS is the better player, or at least will be very soon.

 

I really think the sky could be the limit with Cags. Won't be in the least bit surprised to see him in a Barca or Real Madrid shirt one day. I just hope we get to keep him as long as possible. What a signing.

Don’t get me wrong the bloke has a mistake in him but Maguire did as well but Cags looks better on the ball and a better defender at the minute.

That person needs to have a word with themselves! Christian Eriksen is a top class player and Soyuncu has sniffed out the danger (look at how he's pushed up from the back four because he knows who the danger man is), dealt with it and then taken the ball a full 50 yards up and forced their keeper to play it long. In the clip you see Chilwell move into the space he's left behind (IE defending as a team), so we were covered regardless. Soyuncu has completely diffused a difficult situation brilliantly in my book. For me this passage of play is why he's so highly rated. This is the sort of play the very best CB's in world football can do. The icing on the cake would have been to beat Alderweireld and then play in Vardy!

As it turned out, it was great. Still some dubious decision making there, though.  Soyuncu is capable of making the great play, but sometimes tries too hard to make it when the good play is plenty.  He’ll likely grow out of that in time, at least to an extent.

Hope this was the moment when he realised he can start to bring the ball out of defence, when he's ready to start doing this regularly we have something even more incredible in the team. 

 

I'm still hoping for the GIF when he retaliated against Rashford in defence of Chilwell at the end of the Man U game, could be the start of an interesting rivalry.

He clearly got a rush of blood after the scissor kick and tried to nick the ball too high, got pulled out of position and never caught back up with Kane who eventually scored. That error aside, he was absolutely immense. I think one of our best bits of business in recent years was investing in two promising CBs the season before we sold Maguire - I was disappointed that we seemed to be sniffing round the likes of Dunk and Tarkowski which suggested a lack of trust in that investment last summer. It's clear to me that he needed a run of games to iron out the flaws and the lack of composure in his game, and he has grown to be more and more imperious by the game. He reminds me a lot of Wasilewski - I love a front foot defender who is positive with their challenges, doesn't stand off, and really seeks to dominate the attackers. He was a huge part of the victory yesterday and he and Evans complement each other very well. I genuinely think we have both gained £80m and improved on our starting CB partnership.
