Ben Chilwell

It doesn’t matter what league it is, if someone puts a bad performance in, people are going to moan. We can’t accept bad performances and just say “ Oh well 15 years ago Alan Maybury was at full back with Jason Wilcox.

Plus we’ve moved on from them days and some fans need to aswell. We can’t just have this “ little Leicester city” attitude anymore if we’re gonna try and compete in the top 6.

People were complaining about the atmosphere at the stadium but if you can't even support your own players who have us sitting second in the league and are in a cup semi final, then we don't deserve it.

This is exactly the issue. We've been spoilt over the last few years and people think we are big time and that we should be entitled to win these kind of games.

Chilwell is England's number 1 left back and although he was poor today, for people to say that it was up there with the worst performances they've seen from a Leicester LB is quite frankly laughable.

Absolutely awful tonight! Went backwards every time! Had so many opportunities to run at their right back but didn’t! Does look short of confidence at the minute! Watched again on sky when him, can see Maddison at one point telling chilwell to get his head up!! Let’s gwt behind him so he can get some form back!

Has anyone else noticed how he always moans to the ref? He'll just stand there and bemoan the decision if it doesn't go his way, rather than getting back into position and focusing on the game.

He moans to other players too. He seems to like to blame others than to self-reflect ... hope it is not true because this attitude will be the biggest hurdle he will need to jump over to go to the next level.

Lynch mob mentality!  He's a witch burn him!!!  Chilwell has a good game.....hands off Chelsea you need to pay at least 80 million!!  Chilwell has a bad game.....sell him, get rid Chelsea can have him for a packet of peanuts.

Chilwells confidence has dropped since the Man City game, but what do us fans do?  That's right we crucify him!!

Well, he had a bad game. Drop him for Southampton and bring him back in, should light a bit of a fire under his ass.

For what it's worth, his inconsistency doesn't change the fact that he's one of the 3 best left backs in the league, and far better than basically anyone we could sign. The year he plays 38 games to his potential standard is the last year he plays for us, so it's really not much of a problem that he is like this. I'd much rather have 10 games or so a year below his usual standard than lose him to Chelsea in the summer.

Meanwhile the fans give Tielemans a standing ovation for probably a worse performance.

Can we never send players off to play for England again please, as soon as they do they seem to go to shit!

That said I've never been convinced by chilly. The only thing he does better than fuchs is getting in the air to head the ball, every other attribute though fuchs is far better

He is fitter and runs faster - both are essential in today’s game

he is also more than ten years younger - another advantage

and I saw Christian put in some shocking crosses tonight

He isnt a wing back so play him at LB where he has been at his best this season.

His crossing is weak and looks low on confidence, so hopefully Rodgers stops putting him the wing by himself. People say about him going sideways or backwards but when he is on the ball, I look at his options in this formation and it is either 1. Run at the defender and hope for the best, get groaned at by the fans for losing the ball or 2. Pass sideways because nobody in front of him is giving him options.

Still think he is essential to this team. Hope whatever is holding him back from running at defenders is sorted out.

He had opportunity after opportunity to run at the defender and he declined every time. He didn’t need to do any trickery, simply run in a straight line and try to pull it back low from the touchline. If he’d got tackled he had a good chance of getting a corner. He refused to do it, passing it back or inside, often resulting in Fuchs having to put in a deeper high cross and trying to avoid the tall Villa defence. He continually positioned himself inside when as a wingback he should’ve kept wide and created space for himself and others. No getting away from the fact that he was poor tonight. Ricardo on the more congested right created opportunities out of nothing, Chilwell with more space on the left created nothing out of opportunities.

Ricardo is a winger turned RB so this is easier for him. Chilwell is fine overlapping on a winger from LB but having sole responsibility to create attacks from the left is not a position Rodgers should put him in.

His main attribute is his athleticism and running ability with the ball but he has no skill to take a man on over than kick and run. Needs a winger in front of him and someone close by for one twos and little passes. He should have defended the goal better, lost a bit confidence since he had that little injury. Stick with him.
