I think their point is that if the specialist says 6 weeks more then he is not going be available to play at 100% for perhaps nine.  And players returning from long injuries can suffer a reaction. Perhaps missing the first third of the season could make them feel it might be best to spend the money elsewhere and come back next summer for him.  I happen to think that this is an ‘old story‘ and the news that it is three has meant the move gained traction back end last week.

The injury he has can actually be re-occuring and never fully go away. He has apparently seen specialists in london so I'm sure they have all the facts. The only hurdle possibly is that he may not be able to complete a full medical until the injury has healed? Not sure if that would cause any issues?

Its pretty clear that Chilwell is their number one target and have wanted him for over a year. The only thing that would scupper him going there is if he's out for several months which if he was they wouldn't have agreed a fee for him.

Not so sure that plantar fasciitis is so much an injury as a condition. I was diagnosed with it several years ago, coupled with heel spurs, and was told I’d have to wear hard plastic inserts in my shoes. I tried that and found them very uncomfortable, so tried ordinary arch supporting, off the shelf insoles and they were more comfortable. I now just use ASICS gels with good arch support and don’t seem to have too much trouble.

 

Surprising that Chilwell has this at his age, but I can’t say I know a lot about it other than as above. I thought it was associated with flat feet caused by a stretched plantar fascia ligament in the foot, resulting in collapse of the foot arch.

If his agents the one to convince him of that then we have a problem. He should know that from being at the club and seeing the progression.
 

Also, agents only care about one thing - money, and transfers mean big money with signing on fees and wage rises generally.

Yes I’ve found them to be very good. I was getting quite a bit of pain in my heel, particularly straight out of bed, and insoles worked quite well with my original trainers, but since switching to the ASICS I haven’t really had any trouble at all. Perhaps I should email Chilly

It can occur in footballers when they begin intense training after a period of lesser activity so it fits with an after lockdown increase in training and also he doesn't generally stop running during a game so looks like he has aggravated it. There was mention of pain killing injections for several players so it may be something he has been nursing for a while? It can be re-occuring too and never fully go away hence their nervousness I guess? 🤷‍♀️

Leicester City are set to confirm that James Maddison has signed a new long-term contract, as the club prepares for the £50 million sale of Ben Chilwell.

Maddison has been in talks over an improved deal since last year, as reported by Telegraph Sport in February, and it is understood he committed to a four-year extension when the Premier League season was paused amid the coronavirus crisis.

The £21-million attacking midfielder has made a huge impression since moving from Norwich City in June 2018 and Leicester have been determined to offer him improved terms due to his progress under manager Brendan Rodgers.

Talks were slightly delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic but were concluded earlier this year and Leicester will make an official announcement later on Monday. Nampalys Mendy, the midfielder, is also signing a two-year contract extension.

Maddison is also making good progress after a minor procedure on a hip injury, having missed the final six games of Leicester's season.

Chilwell, however, is set to sign for Chelsea later this week bringing to an end his 11-year association with the club.

The England left-back has been Frank Lampard's No 1 target for the position and negotiations are expected to be concluded in the next 48 hours.

Leicester have agreed an initial fee of around £50 million, with further money due for add-ons and instalments.

Meanwhile, long-serving head physio David Rennie is leaving the club after more than two decades of service in a backroom reshuffle.

Fantastic news about Mendy - to me that says that the club is confident about holding on to Ndidi for a good few seasons, or we'd instead be signing a young talent to groom as his replacement.
