FoyleFox Posted 9 September 2020 Posted 9 September 2020 Bloomin' marvellous that. A lot of what's incomplete looks to be landscaping & paving etc rather than buildings and construction. 1

Popular Post BKLFox Posted 12 September 2020 Popular Post Posted 12 September 2020 @ttfn bringIng your comment over I’m not sure that’s true for everyone. Some people will want to work in a fancy google office, some people would rather be paid an extra few quid and work somewhere else perfectly nice. (And yes I’ve been in a google office and was very impressed...not sure it would sway me if somewhere else had a more interesting project/more money on offer). Isn’t the point being made that it is obviously preferable to the current set up but that the impact of having a top-of-the-range training ground is actually pretty intangible and that with hindsight the money might have been better allocated to a very thin looking playing squad. That training ground is not going to look too clever if the form from the last 22 games of last season carries into this season because we’ve not been able to change up the playing squad sufficiently. What I would say is that it is a moot point, the club obviously thought it was a good investment at the time. Covid has made a lot of ambitious projects look a bit of an overstretch, LCFC wouldn’t be alone in that (Spurs stadium a case in point but at least Levy can point to it being tangibly income generating in a “normal” environment). **************************************** Ok fully agree a lot of people would rather a few more £ in the pocket granted but where I’m going with the facilities is that it’s another string to snare them, listen we can’t compete with the Chelsea, Manchester clubs, Liverpool types regardless of training facilities if a player wants to play for them they will go....but this training ground will pull us away from the rest of the clubs and most abroad even if the other club offered a few dollars, would a player go to an Everton type for 5-10k more but not have the day to day facilities we can offer that can help make them a better player? Using Spurs stadium isn’t the same, that was a total mess as I say a player will only be there once a week for a few hours, it’s training grounds that need to be the wow. As for investment, this facility will be serving the club for 20+ years the 3 players that the 100m could buy will be here for 3-4yrs before going and then you may not see a return on them So yes a better long term investment, hitting the nail there ‘long term’ we are building a future why spunk 100m on a short term fix? 7

Exactly, Bournemouth fans are gutted they never invested in a training ground (the one they had permission for seems to have stalled) and not expanded or moved to a new stadium. They tried to invest in their team and it fell through. 5
Ecdysiast Posted 12 September 2020 Posted 12 September 2020 Jesus, that's magnificent. What a facility! Who wouldn't want to go to work there? Great work to all concerned especially the club.
