Can’t see him going this season, Morgan will probably be primarily a voice in the dressing room. I’m hoping this is the situation, love Wes but can’t be relying on him no more. Fully on board with why he has extended deal aswell though

Steve Earle Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 Hoping it happens. Can see Cags starting maybe 80% of our matches next season and Tarks & Evans 60% each (pretty sure that adds up right?!). Helps Tarks settle in, protects Cags from overplaying and helps nurse Jonny through the season. Plenty enough games ahead for everyone without necessarily moving to a back 3.
TeaMen Tom Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 It sounds to me like this is the agent making one more effort to move things along. I suppose the good news is Tarkowski may well be looking for a move.
fox_up_north Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 I wasn't keen on this last year when we were first linked but all this positivity, plus the fact that we're in a strong position due to EL (especially if he wants to get into the England setup) and Brendan is a reasonably well regarded manager, makes me hopefully. Good PL experience and obviously knows how to defend against top teams, plus he could offer that kind of middle transition player between Evans and Cags. It could mean our defensive options this year are much, much stronger than last year and we can legitimately do a back 3, especially if we're using JJ and Fuchs in it for some of the games that you are happy to just take a point. Shane Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 Get Tarkowski in now and go for Demiral or Kabak next summer. Demiral/Soyuncu/Tarkowski/Evans as squad depth would be beautiful

Brendan potentially doesn't rate him, we've seen him for 30mins in pre-season and that's all. He's had mixed reviews at Bristol combined with the rave reviews at Celtic. Just don’t understand some on here whose obsession is the resale value of anyone we sign. Allow me. Selling Mahrez allowed us to buy Ricardo, Maddison, Evans and Soyuncu Selling Maguire allowed us to buy Perez, Tielemans and Praet Without the obscene profits we make on selling single players, our transfer budget would be £20m-£30m apparently. That's what we are told by those that claim to know anyway. I'm sure you would complain if there were no new signings. Selling Chilwell allows us to buy Castagne and potentially Tarkowski. It's about continuous improvement. For that reason, and for his high ceiling I would prefer Fofana. That said, I would be happy to bring in Tarkowski, we have a big hole that needs plugging straight away and he would fit that bill.
Costock_Fox Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 If they really want £30m and he wants to come here we should table the offer and get it done ASAP. Prem proved, English, decent and pretty young. Ticks all of the boxes.

N'didi, Soyuncu, Ricardo, Maddison (at a bare minimum) who are potentially worth about £250m+. Then there is Barnes, Castagne is 24, younger than Ricardo was when we signed him. Tielemans is 23 and can develop much more than we saw last season. Benkovic, Choudhury, Justin could yet develop, I have my doubts but at the very least you can get your money back. There is plenty of saleable assets already if people want to flog players off. I understand the point, and the club WILL continue to invest in young talent, with one eye on development and sales. But they have to balance that with squad building, a team full of 21 year olds with potential with do nothing.
Popular Post ALC Fox Posted 6 September 2020 Popular Post Share Posted 6 September 2020 £30m is an absolute no-brainer. I'm 100% behind our buy cheap, sell high model of bringing in young, promising talents. But for £30m we get this guy in right at the beginning of his peak years and we can get 5-6 seasons from him at his best. He'll be good enough for us in the Premier League, Europa League, and Champions League should we be good enough to qualify. Sometimes we have to buy for the present. There's at least one CB position up for grabs at next year's Euros as well. Maguire's court case could be distracting for him this season, Gomez is excellent but capable of a howler or two, Keane isn't a certainty, and neither are Mings, Coady, or Dier for that matter. If he can do the business for us, he stands a good chance of breaking in to Southgate's squad properly.
