Jazzy_Jeff Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 I’d be very happy with Tarks. Defo moving to a back three but if one injured/suspended we have two decent ones to move into a back 4.
Babylon Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 Anything under £30m is reasonable for an experienced premier league centre back. He was known for his ability on the ball before his move there as well, so I don't think there are issues there. Him Evans and Soyuncu competing for the starting spots is decent competition. kingfox Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 £30 million is the perfect price for him, £40 million would be bad business, £50 million would be ridiculously stupid business. As I’ve said about Tarkowski already, our fans seem to underrate him probably because he plays for Burnley. He is a brilliant defender, Burnley fans love him and last season he was excellent.

We’re better off this season already. Onto the next one please. Winger! When you put it like that, I think we'd have improved the squad and arguably even the first team depending on the formation we use. So yes that is good business! I expect we are going to see heavy rotation this season not just in terms of players, but also the system used as well. Tarkwoski would mean we could play a very solid 3412 with Soyuncu, Evans and Tarkowski all starting or just pick 2 of the 3 if playing 4141 / 442 Diamond. In 16/17 we could not cope with the additional Champions League games, plus loss of Kante. For me the next 3-5 seasons should all be about getting the squad used to playing a lot of games and developing the club to be a perennial European football playing side.

A starting four of Ricardo, Evans, Söyüncü, Castagne with Justin, Tarkowski, Morgan and Fuchs in reserve, Thomas and Benkovic away getting good loan experience. Superb set of options IMO. Was with you until the Morgan & Fuchs bit!
ronnup Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 Could well be the Cags replacement a year early like we did with Slabhead

When everyone's fit neither get into our strongest matchday squad. Both can do a job when called upon still, otherwise we wouldn't have given them another year each. Benkovic and Thomas seamlessly replace them the following summer if all's well.
Babylon Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 Just now, Steve Earle said: Was with you until the Morgan & Fuchs bit! The likelihood is though that someone like Fuchs wouldn't play. Justin, Ricardo and Castagne have all played large numbers of games at left back, so you can rotate them about as needed.

We are short of centre backs as it is so would make no sense signing one and selling one

I agree FWIW, but can’t resist a cheap joke. I see Morgan starting EFL games, and away games in Europe, but otherwise rarely getting into the 18. Similar for Fuchs, but he’ll be on more match day squads, unless we sign a LB. This is why we need an oven-ready CB, and why Tarks makes sense, especially at £20m less than we were quoted last year.
Harry96 Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 30m is very reasonable. No brainier for that price. In his peak and should be in the england set up.

Lesta2014 Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 Hope this is right, would of paid £30 12 month ago, so to be looking at that now I’m very happy with! get this done and then a left back (if castagne isn’t chilwell replacement) and a couple of attacking options and good to go

katieakita Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 Think Morgan and Fuchs input will mainly behind the scenes and during training knowing how we want to play. Preparation to get things ready for matchday is vital and supporting the younger players and helping them improve passing on your experience makes this pair vital squad members IMHO
Happy Fox Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 I would take him for £30m it’s a decent price for a good Premier League Defender and a recent England International, we need another CB.
Foxes BC Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 £30m a bargain in the current market for a proven Premier League CB. Would be a real coup.
winteriscoming Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 30m yes. However have we forgot our obession with re-sale value? 😂😂 He’s 27.
Dahnsouff Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 Doubt it will be 30m without clauses tbh, but as long as it’s 30-35m including clauses, still decent

Spudulike Posted 6 September 2020 Share Posted 6 September 2020 Didn't Ake go for over £40m?? I expect that Burnley being in a stronger position the Bournemouth will be looking for something similar.
