The second Maddison leaves Leicester for a ‘big club’, he will become a regular England starter.

In the mean time we need him injury free. Without Maddison , victories will be much harder.

Exactly playing Phillips over Foden or Maddison v Italy was incomprehensible when SouthArse bleats utter BS on about playing players on form, Ivan Toney will now find the same problem too !

Maddison will start the next game. England doesn’t really play with a 10 and with Saka and Rashford in wide positions (injury permitting) the only place I see him playing is where Bellingham was yesterday, dropping Bellingham back into the Philips role and benching Philips.

More realistically, he will be used as a 10 in a 4231 when we play teams we should comfortably beat. England have an embarrassment of riches outside of CB and GK.

Don't know why England don't play 4231 against all teams, there is simply no need for 2 CDMs. Bellingham is an 8 not a 10 so could play alongside Rice with Maddison or Foden in the 10. It's not rocket science. But Southgate is inherently risk adverse and cautious.

Is he being played on the left wing position? Similar to Vardy 🙄

Not quite left wing. Seems to have the licence to drift in.

Isn't doing his case any favours, lets be honest.

Thought he looks very assured, ball retention good, plenty of involvement. suited to this level.

Maddison done well,Henderson now showing his maturity

England doing also well..

No use splitting airs, any front 6 formation is strong for England..

He's been fine, especially considering he's been deployed in a position that to my knowledge he's never played in and he's also got Kane and Bellingham treading on his toes

Helps when he's got Bellingham, Saka and Kane around him and he doesn't need to drop into his own half for a defender to find him.
