Injuries at the club.

How exactly do opposition players 'target' him without risking a red/yellow card?

The same way they always do? Not every hard challenge warrants a booking but they are harder for the receiving player to deal with if they haven't used their legs much for 2 months at that intensity, especially at Vardys age.

Seemed a natural build up to me. 20mins off the bench, then an hour:dunno:

....it did seem a bit too quick to have him starting!!!

Perhaps have 30 mins off the bench would have been better in the build up to his rehabilitation, muscles around the joints are not as strong as they should be after a long lay off, and may have been able to withstand an impact, without the necessary joint collapsing.

The constant defending of Rodgers is almost as bad as those who continually bash him.

Still think Vardy was rushed back too early IMO, 45 minutes should have been enough vs. Leeds.

Correct - those throwing the accusations have no insight into what is actually going on

I would have thought 65 minutes or so was reasonable after twenty on Tuesday - just unfortunate

You can't blame the latest Vardy injury on Rodgers/the Medical team. It was an impact injury that he could of picked up at any point whether he was fully fit or just returning from injury. The previous hamstring injuries to Vardy, JJ and Ricardo etc being unnecessary risks were valid arguments but not this one.

You don't throw a 35 year old whos barely kicked a ball in 2 months straight into an intense game against a team fighting for their lives, against Burnley for 20 minute it was fine because their players were tiring so it was bound to be less intense.

The 'impact' injury has occurred because he's not performed at this level for over 2 months so when his knees were trying to absorb the shock of the impact they just couldn't because his body was at its limit as it wasn't used to the intense exercise. Yes it can happen when fully fit but its more likely to happen to a 35 year old who hasn't played much in the way of games for 2 months. He needs to be managed better and yet again, he wasn't.

Are you a qualified physiotherapist or had any medical training?

I'm not sure that matters because the professionals we've had at the club for the past 2 seasons have been useless.

Even so this is basic stuff. You spend 2 months out injured and not performing at the same level you physically cannot dive straight back into said level as the risk of injury is higher. Younger players can get away with it, older ones not so much and that's where the problem is.

If this were a Maddison or a Barnes i'd be more inclined to say its bad luck but a 35 year old Vardy needs to be managed better and more patiently.

I am not blaming Rogers, but as others have said, when you have been out for a few weeks, your muscle strength is lower, meaning any joints etc are at more risk of being injured, even with impact injuries.  Ease someone back in more, allowing them

to build strength back up, is likely to have a better result.

God this is tiresome. I don't think the Vardy incident is the medical staff's fault- he looked ready to go when he played. He was sharp and clinical. It's a knock. We might have to get used to these niggles the later he gets into his career.

That said, I believe there is an ongoing review into the medical staff because the level of injuries at the club has been unsustainable for some time. When has Brendan had an opportunity to pick from a fully firt squad? Injuries have cruelled this season big time.
