Sidnei Tavares

I don’t think his agent is going to be looking to get the deal signed anytime soon anyway.

The better he performs between now and then the end of the season, the better the deal they can get out the club

When you say take him out ... I think that's probably a bit over the top, he's only a young lad, I think he'd try harder next time.

Yes I understand what you're saying probably not the best choice of words on my part. We do need to win this game though.

But when I say take him out, It may have nothing to do with his performance it could just be tactical, to bring in someone who understands the system better. Or just to take him out of an overheated game or opponent who is to eager to stop him. This is all part of his learning the pro game.

I've never seen a young player who didn't try to impress, But that's also part of the problem. We need them to relax into the games where they show off their best talent and then they usually blossom.

I have seen him play for the 23s a few times so I think he can make the step up. He could well be the surprise player that secures success for us in big games as he's unknown.

Equally it could be next season after a full pre season before he gets a run in the team to impress.

I just hope he signs for us.

I only meant it in a jokey way honestly, not serious at all as in, if he doesn't perform well first half, we'll send Don Corleone's boys round 😁

You're fine I understand and thanks for considering my feelings.

After his debut last week and given that it's Sheffield I'd keep him in on Sunday. The pace of the game caught him out a little last week but yet he nearly scored.

he will have learned from that and I'd expect him to do even better.

With most young players it having the patience with them while encouraging them to express themselves.

If it's not working then bring on the experience as the game unfolds.

Nah, they’ll be keen to get a deal thrashed out fairly soon I would have thought, just assessing all options now.

At the end of the day he’s out of contract this summer. If he got injured tomorrow he’d be up shit creek.

...he would still be covered by the club and be taken care of by the club!!!

It is strange that you do not realise what this club is about. It is a lot more than just winning!!!

Weird post but ok.

That’s not how professional football works, if you’re out of contract that means you’re officially not covered by any club. If he suffered a serious serious injury now the best he’d get is a form of insurance payout, normally around 200-300k for a professional footballer- but that’s only if he had to retire.

Obviously all hypothetical of course ‘!!!!’

Bit of a different take on it on Leicester Mercury website:

Tavares contract?

“It’s up at the end of the season. The club have been in discussions with his representatives. He’s a very talented young player. He fits the profile and has good potential. There is a lot for him to do. I’m pretty sure that will get resolved. I’ll continue to coach him until the end of the season or beyond. We provide an environment for young players. It’s about three fundamental principles. Can we win titles? Can we play attacking football? And can we do it with players from our academy? I would hope they see it as a great place to be. We are looking to be competitive. Hopefully him and his family can see that.

Seems more hopeful than expectant.

"I’m pretty sure that will get resolved"

That's an ambiguous statement if ever there was one. It's obviously going to be 'resolved' one way or the other. Sounds very much still in the balance to me.

Marco says their first choice would be for Sidnei to remain at Leicester but admits it would be difficult to turn down lucrative offers.

“We have been in Leicester for nearly 20 years, and we know a lot of people,” he says. “I have worked as a chef in the casino for eight years, so we have a lot of friends. We want to stay. That is the reality.

“But that all depends on the club and what they can do for us. Football is a short life and sometimes you don’t get what you want just because you love something. If Leicester want they can keep Sidnei easily.

“There are some amazing big clubs after him. He is a good young kid. Sidnei has a market but our priority is Leicester.”

Really sounds like they've slapped a highish wage bill demand on LCFC. Pure speculation but why else say that.

There is a risk that giving a nineteen y o kid a four year deal on twenty grand a week might affect his hunger

he is at the stage in his career where a lot of hard yards are necessary

but if we could secure him on that size deal then is four mill a big risk given the potential upside ??

of course if he does stay and improve then we will have to top up that contract in a couple of years ......

Maybe make it a heavily incentivised contract with performance bonuses? That way he gets the money he feels he should be paid by performing like the player he believes himself to be. The club also get another potentially prodigious talent lighting up the premier league.

By the sounds of it he's staying. They just need to hammer out the right contract which I'm confident we can do.

Obviously if there's other clubs sniffing around you're going to make sure that your existing club will match what the market says you're worth.  I trust city to make the right choice here.

I really hope Dennis doesn't leave in the summer, he's a good player imho. I'd rather KDH came back as another option rather than as a replacement for someone leaving however if that's the case then I'd rather we kept Praet and Hamza moved on. I like Hamza, I just don't think his style is synchronous with the way we play.

Yes I agree ( re Hamza) . He obviously want regular football and we won’t give him that.  he looks a tailor made Palace or West Brom player to me

I can see Praet leaving in the summer to be honest, KDH to take his place and Tavares as the youngster in the squad

I don’t believe we’ve seen the best of Praet at the club ; that may be the way we’ve deployed him or maybe he hasn’t settled . I’m pretty sure that he is a better player than KDH and that this would not be a like for like swap . I hope we keep him .
