Quite similar to Liverpools recent midfield set up with Thiago (creativity), Fabinho (ball winner) & Wijnaldum (box to box). Yepp, i think that would also depend on bringing in a high output RW to create the ‘Liverpool style’ front 3. 2

Ye it would rely heavily on that right winger though. Also would make Edouard look like a weird one, unless BR really doesn't rate Kelechi at all. Which is possible tbh
Heymister2015 Posted 26 May 2021 Posted 26 May 2021 (edited) Allez Les Bleus ringing around the Kingpower next season. Make no mistake! We need at least 3 more of his quality Edited 26 May 2021 by Heymister2015
Spudulike Posted 26 May 2021 Posted 26 May 2021 If Lille are having a fire sale what other players have they got that might be of interest?

Which is possible tbh If we were adopting Liverpool like tactics (which I doubt) then Édouard would be sensible as someone who can both drop deep to link the play, and have the presence/strength to hold it up (like Firmino). But we'd need to sign 2 wide forwards in that scenario as I'd expect even smaller output from Perez and Albrighton in that system. We'd also need Ricardo and Justin to get back to the levels they reached previously as the full backs are crucial in that system.

I think we might see another system being used next season - a 433 that is very reminiscent of Liverpool's system. I don't think it will be Plan A (4231) or even Plan B (3412), but might be a new plan C. It's a good system for bullying weaker teams that's for sure. I expect to see us mix and match all season though, just like this one. 4
Guest SO1 Posted 26 May 2021 Posted 26 May 2021 (edited) That's the Under money spent from last season. Next. Goals please. Edited 26 May 2021 by SO1
KFS Posted 26 May 2021 Posted 26 May 2021 Amazing how much better this signing makes a 3atb look already. I wouldn't actually mind him playing it if it looks like the below: Kasper Fofana Evans Soyuncu Ricardo Ndidi Thomas Tielemans Soumaré Kelz Vardy

I think we might look at playing the diamond as well. Historically it's a formation Brendan likes, and he toyed with it whilst Barnes was still fit (Liverpool game). Would allow us to play 2 of Vardy/Nacho/Barnes/new striker(think we all know it'll likely be Edouard), then Madders/Perez/Barnes in behind. 1

The energy, running and skill of our world class midfield three in Ndidi, Tielemans and Soumare. Move over Trent and Robbo, we've got world class attacking full backs in spades to add to the creativity. All topped off with, just like Liverpool, the blistering, terrifying speed up top either side of Iheanacho - Ayoze Perez and James Maddison. 11
FerrisBueller Posted 26 May 2021 Posted 26 May 2021 What kind of player is he, can someone give us a brief Soumaré... Terrible. 4

With the last part, a front three of Harvey Barnes, Dan James (!) and Vardy / Nacho as the Firminio type of player that drops deep and is more of a creator might actually work? Barnes and James are rapid that's for sure. I still think 4231 will be the go to system when everyone is fit, but when will that be? Even going into next season JJ is still out, though maybe Barnes is back to being able to play. I don't expect Harvey to come back 100% from the get go personally. I'd actually put money on Ryan Bertrand starting our first league game of next season...
Master Fox Posted 26 May 2021 Posted 26 May 2021 Big Dogs at it again. Next season we’re winning the League and Europa 1
mozartfox Posted 26 May 2021 Posted 26 May 2021 Little Wes will be knocking one out over this. New best mate.

moore_94 Posted 26 May 2021 Posted 26 May 2021 Quite a few different fees bouncing around, but certainly seems like no more than £20m 3

I'm just being cynical about how it would end up week two when we realise Barnes isn't fit yet and whoever this year's attempt at signing a RW is is shit. It's a great idea on paper. 1
