Also where the gentlemen side of rugby goes a bit too far... I saw the game and quite frankly the ref cocked up big time and allowed Bristol to cheat. Fully understand why he was confronted at the end of the game, and was on nowhere near the level of confrontation refs get weekly in football (which is still disgusting). Refs should be accountable but not abused. 7

If a ref makes a mistake he should be criticised and accountable, but should be given the respect when they make the right calls/ decisions and do their job. 1

All this shit af grass roots about anti bullying, respect the refs, respect everyone, yet millionaire professionals are allowed to scream in the refs face and swear at him? Stupid. I hate having to listen to some Johnny Caveman type telling me it's all in the spirit and passion of football, too. No, **** off. Swearing and laughing at rival fans? Have at it. But the players on the pitch should respect the ref and each other and just get on with the game. There wouldn't be "missing players weekly" because people would learn in a very short space of time that you can't do it anymore and the culture would shift. Yeah there'd be casualties to begin with but then people would adapt. 8
Spudulike Posted 11 June 2021 Posted 11 June 2021 I think that managers are some of the worst culprits. 3
davieG Posted 11 June 2021 Author Posted 11 June 2021 There's other aspects of the game that have been allowed to pass, the 10yd free kick rule to stop quick free kicks, throw in location, obstruction, time wasting are all pretty much ignored as well as the obvious ones like diving, feigning injuring, exaggerating injury, cynical fouling to stop break outs from defence with defenders taking it in turns to get the yellow card as in 'one for the team' - It's all cheating. And sadly all more or less endorsed by ex footballer pundits. 1

If this is to happen then all it does is confirm that the RFU are more interested in trying to uphold this Gentlemen image than trying to stamp out cheating in the sport. 2

The missing players comment was more tongue in cheek should they apply the rules of rugby to with how footballers behave currently. Obviously they'd change behaviour.
Koke Posted 11 June 2021 Posted 11 June 2021 Sancho to United. Haaland to Chelsea. What are our chances next season? 1

It’s just Chelsea and Man U spending millions, happens every season… and everyone always asked the question how will we cope. We will just keep doing what we do well. Our focus should be on Spurs, arsenal Everton and West Ham really. For another top 6 finish Edited 11 June 2021 by foxes_rule1978 1
KFS Posted 11 June 2021 Posted 11 June 2021 The ‘big 6’ buying attacking players under pressure from fans is so funny because they need better defences and midfields. Let them buy who they want. We’re still going to be up there imo.

The whole meme is built around the belief that little Leicester were too shit to win it and one of the big clubs inevitably would, it's built around the belief that even Poch has vocalised that Tottenham were supposed to win that year. That it was their title, but for this "bottle." We were just the better team, we were always ahead, win the league by ten points, beat them at their own gaff keeping a clean sheet, went and smashed Man City at theirs. That’s funny because my recollection is that we were nowhere and then Chelsea heroically drew with Spurs to hand us the title.

The way that we navigated the last season with the injuries we had shows we’re here to stay. This is probably true of almost all our players but if we lose Tielemans the whole balance of our team will be screwed. As bad as our injuries were last season we were fortunate he was fit to play every game. It took us at least 18 months to properly get over losing Mahrez and we still haven’t properly replaced him. Tielemans is of a similar quality but is even more integral to the way we play. Keep him and we will be in the top 4 conversation next year. Losing him would be a huge setback. We won’t be able to attract anybody of the same quality, whereas I’d be confident we could find another Maddison or even Soyuncu-level player if we absolutely had to.

don_danbury Posted 11 June 2021 Posted 11 June 2021 i'm hoping that huge high chelsea had will mess up their season not been that impressed with them under tuchel tbh, great defensively but need a proper striker to put away their chances.

Utd. should stop spending huge amounts of money on overrated "superstars" and put faith in their academy. Rashford, Greenwood and Mctominey have often outshone the big money buys.
