And until a deal has actually been done, the player can’t really stay at the trading ground. It won’t be an issue for him to move across when it’s possible.

Whether or not you agree with that is another discussion. When we attack, we often switch to a back 3. Ricky and Barnes become our wide players, Perez tucks in with Maddison creating the space put wide. I'm not saying this is why we're apparently signing Lookman, but if he does replace Perez, him and Maddison with free (ish) roles behind the front man could be dangerous. Don't get me wrong, I too would like to see a good left footed, right sided attacker, because it gives us the option to switch things up, but Lookman would give us a couple of different options, just not the ones most of us want and/or were expecting Genuinely I think that when people say 'winger', it is used as a catch-all term for that wide right position it's not because they don't understand how we play. I think that to infer from that term a lack of understanding is to do a disservice. I'm quite sure that no one sees Perez as a Lynex style touch line hugging winger, he plays as an inside forward but it's easier to just say winger. The point is that we have a glaring weakness for that position that needs replacing whether you want to call it wide right, winger or inside forward. 3

foxinsocks Posted 30 August 2021 Posted 30 August 2021 Are we buying (how much,?) or a loan with option to buy?

UHDrive Posted 30 August 2021 Posted 30 August 2021 Disappointing with this guy. Watched him a few times for Fulham. He stood out with his pace but not finesse. He was physically strong and was great at running down the line blind and whipping aimless balls into the box. Almost reminds me of Schlupp... 1
CrispinLA in Texas Posted 30 August 2021 Posted 30 August 2021 Never seen him play, how good is he? Did Walsh sign him up at Everton?

He scored against us at the KP, but I’m not sure he offers us what we need, we bemoan Perez for his lack of impact as an attacker, and I don’t see what Lookman can offer that’s different other than a bit of pace. Ive never seen anything in his game to suggest he is what we need, I don’t expect much either. What it means is we will be playing a back five for most of the season again utilising the wing backs as the width. Possibly playing Barnes centrally, or perhaps move into a 4-3-3 and push Perez a little higher and closer to Vardy. Lookman won’t break the first team I don’t think, he will be an option from the bench. Edited 30 August 2021 by Pliskin 1

FoxTrott Posted 30 August 2021 Posted 30 August 2021 Tanner said that Lookman will most likely be done tomorrow
GingerrrFox Posted 30 August 2021 Posted 30 August 2021 I just can’t see this signing, it doesn’t make sense, Brendan said post match about trying to bring a player of “real quality” in. Lookman is not better than Barnes on the left and he’s never been comfortable playing on the right. If he does come in, this is a desperation signing and means we haven’t got any of our main targets. 1 1

Underwhelmed, we need a decent RW and the best we can do is a average LW.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 30 August 2021 Posted 30 August 2021 Always thought we'd get Dan James tbh. I'd accept this as a signing, it's another decent body and means we have some direct pace, rather than relying purely on Barnes.

Or maybe just maybe Rodgers and our scouting team are better judges of talent and potential than you, me and others on foxes talk? Let's not write off a player before he has even signed 1
FoxOnWheels Posted 30 August 2021 Posted 30 August 2021 Think he could do a decent job on the right being worse than Perez will be hard so not who I wanted but rather him than no one 1
coolhandfox Posted 30 August 2021 Posted 30 August 2021 Rudders found Steve Walsh note pad with a list of old targets on it

Let's not write off a player before he has even signed Statistically he’s been woeful whenever he’s played on the right. Everton tried to get him comfortable playing on the right and it failed, he spent pretty much all of last season playing on the left for Fulham and looked capable at this level. If we had already strengthened the right side of our attack and were bringing him in as second fiddle to Barnes, I would be happy with the signing. As it is, we are desperately crying out for a true right sided player. That should have been the priority. Edited 30 August 2021 by GingerrrFox 4 1
