With Hamza out of the picture , Mendy cannot leave unless Rodgers wants to do away with a DM in some matches. Three at the back looks like the plan from now on. Soumaré is not a PL standard defensive player.

Hopefully Perez.

I just said on another thread that I like when we play with two number eights and a six. I would be more than happy with our eights being Youri, Maddison, KDH and Praet with Mendy and Wilf  being the #6's.

If Bouba, Vesty and Perez went, that would give us scope for a CB, RW and back up LW to come in.

A CB, Bowler and Diop would be more than acceptable in my opinion.

Apparently he wants to go back to Spain, Betis linked with him

Hopefully he lowers his wage demands then. He's not a dreadful footballer. We would have no issue moving him along if he didn't wasn't on such big wages.

I just find it so frustrating that players who seemed to be so promising when we first signed them - like Soumare but particularly Praet - aren't being  fully utilised or even seem to be actually ignored so far as any first team opportunities are concerned.

I don't understand the Praet situation. I'm not saying that is a worldbeater but I genuinely can't remember him having a bad game for us. You need players that are reliable.

Agreed because Praet looked good in pre-season. Yet why he was not brought on against Brentford I don't know. The team was getting tired, so just bringing him on for Maddison or Tielemans for the final 20 would have been smart. Not giving any game time at all made me think that he still might go.

Never has a better player been done dirty by a worse manager for so long.

Some hack or other needs to put Rodgers on the spot about his reasoning with Caglar, Dennis and Kelechi because I don't get it. I think Rodgers is a top class politician but he does get an easy ride from the media.

Perez I think. It’s clear we’ve got some targets lines up. Just need to start shipping some of these folk out. Can’t we sell them on Amazon? Next day delivery?

Amazed at the apparent lack of interest in Iheanacho from other clubs, given his goal and assist record for us. Surely we could get £15m for him (just don't think we need 3 central strikers as we normally play 1 up front) and about the same for Soumaré (who I think could be an asset, based on his pre season, but who Rodgers is clear not keen on). Then ideally invest that £30m in a winger and get another winger on loan. And that's before we even flog anyone like Fofana or Youri.

Selling iheanacho would be such a risky move for me. We still haven't seen if Daka is any good up front on his own, personally I think if we do sell iheanacho for a RW then we're also putting Daka's future in serious jeopardy as well.

We should keep Mendy he's decent back up for Wilf. Three at the back seems an odd choice of formation when we are seriously short on decent CB's.

My concern is that like Hamza, Perez's contracts up next summer and we'll be asking for a fee which given he's also on £80-100k a week is highly unlikely a club will commit to both. I really hope we don't think it's a shrewd move to extend his contract and loan him with an option to buy thinking we'll then make money in the long run.

Bet he feels like he’s been on a Highway to Hell. Insane really. He’s a damn good player.

Why on earth would Rodgers make public what the club are doing behind the scenes?

I'm sure his reps are still pushing hard for a sale or another loan, but ultimately if the club refuse he's at their mercy.  The only upside is the possibility of a managerial change and the almost inevitable change in his fortunes it would bring.

I think you can see sense with the Hamza one, it is a low-risk investment 0f 1.5m with a view to securing a fee of 5m-10m if he has a great season, and he is still young enough to turn into a good player. The club have seen how KDH has developed after a season in the championship.

It would make no sense to do Perez his 29 and is not going to improve.

Hamza extension and the possible signing of Alex Smithies, both very avoid cost definitely indicates, that it is more of a housekeeping exercise this season rather than a serious money issue.

Wilf brings height tho. However, if we stick to 3atb then maybe we could fit Mendy in instead.

It would definitely make things flow more. I think brendan’s just got his favourites and certain people will play no matter what the occasion or situation and wilf is one of those guys

Shuts us up to start with. Then of course we would have to be more productive with our time I suppose.

...I  really believe that Daka would benefit from a high tempo team, no building from the back!!!

It is ponderous and he struggles to get involved enough, where we need him to get involved continuously, instead of a couple of times in the game.

How does Congerton keep getting jobs though? Can’t even accuse it of being best mates aka Rodgers style either.

Sure sign that Gasperini plans to retire at 65, with Rodgers lined up to replace him at Atalanta.  Get your bets ready

But we'll keep Kolo a few more years ... until the new set piece coach is out of limbo

Can't we just straight swap Rodgers for Gasperini?  Atlanta can have the full set o' shite.

When was the last time we had a manager swap anyhoo?
