Revealing conversation between Brendan and Owynn.

Surprising that Brendan revealed he wasn’t aware of the financial position / the need to balance books until the end of the season.

Doesn’t reflect too well on communication with Rudkin.

If we haven’t signed a player by the end of the weekend then I’m returning my baby’s Onesie that I bought her!

Maybe they'll exchange it for their newest design.

https://www.si.com/fannation/soccer/futbol/news/uefa-outline-new-financial-regulations-to-reform-ffp

can’t find much about PL ffp rule changes. The uefa ones were updated in the spring. I guess if our target is European football then there is little point in not meeting uefa rules.

I also believe that the club are simply not prepared to have big earning players wandering around seagrave and not being available for first team selection.

Brendan said he was aware of the need to balance the books. He made it sound more like there are no more funds available, he didn’t mention FFP but as he said his job is to help identify players not to know the ins and outs of the financial situation.

Because if you don’t then you’ll find yourself in the group fighting to not finish 18th ….. you can’t stand still whilst everyone else is investing to maintain their PL status

Would you think the team than finished 8th last season with all its injuries is capable of finishing above 18th without spending a penny? I guess if the board do and looking for a period of consolidation financially it may just be the case this year?

Sam Martin who is always ITK seems to think we’re in some pretty big financial trouble :/

He doesn't know a lot.

Would take it with a pinch of salt.

You don't turn down offers for unwanted squad players if you are in big trouble.

Note his twitter post starts with "I think"

Listened to about half of the podcast and it's been very good so far. Owynn gets a lot of flak but thought he's done a good job here. Some of the tactical stuff was nerdy but I quite liked it!

This season yes, but I got the feeling the post I was replying to was making that a general policy moving forwards. You can’t stand still for two seasons ??.

He probably wasn't aware but was certainly put in the full picture after the post Forest comments.

I like brendan but he's always trying to spin a situation.

The club ran out of money and I've only just found out sounds a lot more favourable to him than we have given big wages, transfer fees and and space in the squad to a load of players we can't move on under my watch.

Bertrand

Vestergard

Soumare

Praet

Perez

Don't get me wrong we've signed smen too players on his watch too it's not a dig at him really I would just take his version with a pinch of salt.

That would imply he has anything to do with transfer fees and player wages…

He may well have signed those players, but it’s the club that decide how much they are willing to spend and negotiating contracts.

I’m sure he regrets his post-Forest outburst.

I worry for us if we are selling key senior players like Kasper, Maddison and Tielemans and looking at internal solutions to replace them

I get what you are saying but if you have 3 keepers at the club why wouldn’t your first thought be to take a look at the others when your best one leaves? Especially when financially you are struggling a bit. Look at the Maguire situation when he left, Cags was begged for a while.

Owynn is very good. It's hard to believe he's only 25 or so. He makes the odd mistake (some stupid Tweets before the Roma game) but he's a good kid and a really smart broadcaster who is only getting better.

I also rate Matt Piper as a commentator too.

Communication is a two way thing. Perhaps Rodgers shouldn't have started spouting about a refresh before speaking to someone regarding the financial possibilities?

Even better still, don't even mention it at all, if possible, just do it and don't alert others to our intentions. Saying such things mid-season only serves as a slap to current players and an excuse for a manager who wasn't exactly pulling up any trees at the time, merely deflecting from his own inadequacies. For the master coach he was, he didn't exactly have much clue regarding our defence over a long long period of time.

We seemed full of praise for Rudkin and our recruitment boys until Rodgers came, are we all falling for his slobber?

Maybe it was a slap they needed?

Our form definitely improved after those comments.

The players weren't exactly pulling up tree either.

Raineri - Mendy

Puel - Tielemans, Ghezzal, Diabate

Leicester managers always have input to transfers as the list above shows. In addition Brendan had his best mate Lee Congerton as head of recruitment. Neither of the above had that. The agent of Ryan Bertrand is from a company in which Brendan’s son is involved. Putting aside conflict of interest issues, Brendan was ideally placed to know of Bertrand’s availability, to persuade him to come (relationship with agency, coached the player before) and to understand Bertrand’s likely value to the team.

Plus Celtic and Liverpool fans say poor recruitment limited their clubs’ horizons under Brendan. How much evidence do you need?
