Your answer is a swerve, though. You know what people mean: does Luke Thomas have the ability to successfully operate as a Premier League left back, or would he be more suited to a lower level? There are lots of players in the Premier League who probably shouldn't be there - we have a number of them in our squad. Everybody knows what the question 'Is X a Premier League player?' means, so stop pretending you don't understand it

Usually knocks one great ball in a game, sometimes creating a chance, in a side that doesn’t show for the ball. As I’ve said before a pass that Castagne can only dream about making. He’s getting away with murder currently.

Yes, Thomas has not excelled but as a young full back with little or no protection in front of him is he not far more susceptible to criticism? In our current situation, should we reasonably expect him to be full of confidence and shine? Bar Maddison, he'd be the only one!

 

Compare to a player like Tielemans who, despite the very occasional great goal or occasional accurate pass, hides in midfield, regularly gives the ball away, shows little energy or pace, but is a fans and managers favourite. Is Tielemans really that much better performance wise?

 

It would certainly do him good to get away just to get a better manager/coach because currently, the one's he's got here are pretty bloody useless. I wouldn't blame any of them for leaving as under the current regime, their careers will only stagnate or regress. No wonder some are gagging to get away, I would too and I'm supposedly a supporter!

Typically it's my old man asking, so I wind him up with that answer!!

 

I think he has potential, he came in early and was doing well, Barnes looked better with him than without, but I think he's now being coached to stay further back and I don't think he is currently physically strong enough to solely be a defender. I think he'll have a decent career in the PL. Obviously, I'd like more than a 'decent PL career' type player for Leicester, but if we get Victor and he stays fit, then Thomas will do us well as a PL squad player.

His heading ability is a bit of a concern, and I've heard that from FCK fans too, that it's an area he could improve given his height, but it's perhaps now as bad as it's listed here. Everyone in real life speaks highly of his mental attributes and IMO at top level football that's the difference between making it and not. And it looks like VK is already very strong in this area. 

 

I think overall we should expect a player who comes in and is initially solid rather than a superstar, but one we should be hoping starts to shine in 2-3 years time. 

 

Based on these stats he seems exactly like what Brendan wants in a full back which gives me hope that he's been properly scouted and isn't just another Vestergaard panic buy.

 

Looks like he can bomb up and down the wing all game like Castagne but has a bit more stature and bite to his game. The 'gets forward whenever possible' trait suggests he's more positive on the ball than Thomas as well so considering he's so young and has a lot of room to improve, I'm actually very happy with this. Could turn out to be another inspired Fofana-esque signing.

Rodgers will deem him "not ready yet" and leave him on the bench for the rest of the season - whilst we hurtle towards relegation

This is true, I played 60 minutes of football, 15 of which with a severely sprained ankle, then cycled home from the other end of Copenhagen.

Yes i ran about 12km and yes i’m a Copenhagener now!

He is not a Premier league standard player, and I don't see him becoming one. 

 

He has a value as he is a homegrown player as he is English and is needed to fill a 25 man squad. 

I don’t know how anyone can can write off a defender, of all positions, at 21 years old, especially one who has shown flashes of brilliance and is good enough to be involved in the England setup. 
 

Yeah, I know the u21s have been full of flops but it’s still way too early to make that sort of prediction, especially when the team around LT is crumbling.
