Had a thought this morning, about the state of the squad should we be relegated. 

 

We all know we're in a mess, but who do you think realistically would start the first game of the season in the Championship if/when we get relegated. Who would be sold? Who would leave? Just a thought and a topic to consider who would do a job in the Championship. 

 

I'll start.

Kristiansen

Faes

Souttar

Justin

 

Barnes

KDH

Mendy

Albrighton

 

Daka

Iheanacho?

No way Barnes plays in the Championship. Same for Kel and Daka, and probably Souttar. 

 

Let's face it, it's one of the biggest summers the club will ever have in terms of transfers and that's regardless of the division we're in.

Iversen has already excelled at Championship level. Not sure if he wants to go back.

 

Hamza defensive-shield. Give Braybrooke minutes. Slowly integrate Alves.

 

KDH and Barnes have already done the Championship. And well. Only extreme loyalty and perhaps a new contract stipulation would keep them here.

 

Most of our squad, given a good manager, are easily Prem quality. Can't see many wanting to stay. Not after this season without assurances things will improve.

3 of the players listed there would stay in the event of Relegation (Iversen, KDH, Albrighton) the rest would be off or desperate for a move.

Barnes has 10 goals in the prem this season with 9 games to go. A lot of prem clubs don’t have a striker with that many goals let alone a winger. We could sell him for £30m comfortably imo. 
 

Just checked, 9 clubs have players with less than 10 goals, 4 more have players with 11. He blows hot and cold but it’s hard to argue with those numbers.

Most of those names will be gone. We won’t be able to keep any of our key players due to wages. As things stand the players we will have left will be

Albrighton

Vardy (if he takes a massive pay cut). 
 

Possibly Amartey will be kept on.

Barnes is too good for the Championship but I don't know who'd be in for him, I guess one of better clubs might pick him up for their English quota. 

 

I think we'll struggle to sell the likes of Soumare, Faes, Daka and a few others so might be out on loan. Iheanacho and Ndidi only have a year left don't they so they'll be sold somewhere I'd imagine. Castagne and Praet will finally get their moves away. 

 

I think Ricardo might stay, Krisitiansen would probably want to move but we might get a season out of him. We'd probably sell Iversen and keep Ward. 

 

Justin, Dewsbury-Hall, Souttar, Thomas, Albrighton, Vardy are probably only ones to stay.

I think most of the team will go or we'll sell so we dont go bankrupt. Teams in the Prem and other top leagues will be all over us even if the players havent been good this season. The players will also be pushing for loan or permanent moves, dont think there are many loyal players left and the championship is a big step down.

 

I can see Iversen, Ward, Albrighton, Soutter, KDH and Hamza sticking around. Evans might as he's always injured. Vestergaard will and might finally get some games.

There's no way the majority of remaining players will be dropping a division. 

 

There'll have stickers slapped on their foreheads and be placed out on the July concourse trestle tables with the £15 LCFC pens and the 'Now just £59' shirts in XS and S.

Most of our players are on OTT wages so we will be stuck with many of them still in contract - worrying situation

Kristiansen isnt playing championship football. 

 

I hope kdh is playing it fir someone else, I also don't see us keeping kel. He's too good for us

Genuinely don't rate him at all. It's okay throwing your arms up in the air to rally the crowd, but get your defending right first.

Iverson stays and sadly so does Ward.

 

I genuinely think that apart from those out of contract and probably castagne nobody comes in for any of our defenders. Kristiansen hasn't made a big enough impact yet to be a real target, Justin has been ropey or injured for about 18 months, Evans is finished and souttar and faes don't improve anyone's squads. Less said about vestergaard and Thomas the better.

 

Midfield wise, Maddison and Barnes def get sold, mendy and tielemans out of contract, kdh to stay. Ndidi is an interesting one. He's a shadow of the player from 2 years ago but he was once so good I can still see a prem club coming in for him. Are albrighton and choudrhy out of contract too?

 

Up front nacho will be picked up by someone and if he pushes for it hard enough daka can prob get a move abroad leaving us with a 37yr old vardy. 

 

Assuming I'm about right with these guesses we have a good championship keeper (but a pub league back up) and a solid championship level defence assuming a competent manager. Midfield is absolutely f**ked though and if daka leaves we've got nothing up front either. Not sure the 100ish million wel get for castagne maddison and Barnes  Will be enough to even remotely plug the gaps in the squad just in terms of numbers. Top and the board have well and truly buggered it.
