is there something wrong with him? or has maresca said i'll drop you if you hoof it? the couple times he did just clear it out we looked more dangerous

Willing to take the rough with the smooth in regards to Mads.

Slip-ups from him playing out will cost us goals this season, but will be heavily outweighed by progressive passes/ passes into space that come off!

Best keeper ever.

Ah but can he catch a banana thrown at him whilst sitting on a sofa whilst being interviewed on TV?

His short range passing is far better than long range. His overall pass accuracy is 86.5%. 99.7% at 5-15 yards, 98.2% at 15-30 yards, 50.7% at 30+ yards. Much like any player really, hit it long and it increases the potential for turnovers and means that half the time the ball is coming straight back at you (and the 49.3% successful, majority will be a flick on header and lost on the second ball)

thanks for the info but that's not really what i was getting at. he routinely makes terrible/dangerous passes rather than booting the ball.

Some of his passing in the early part of the season was phenomenal.

Not quite sure what’s happened, but looks a little short of confidence in his distribution at the moment and he’s making some dodgy passes.

He’s still commanding presence and a good shot stopper - fewest goals conceded in the league - so at least he’s doing a very good job in that regard.

Young lad, new league, and obviously playing the high risk stuff at the managers request. Just needs that air of unflappability that the best keepers have even after an error and he’ll go right to the top.

He routinely plays short balls and helps us retain possession rather than just cunting it long so the ball can come back and face more shots

The think about him passing it out from his own box.

He needs his own players to move and receive the ball.

Early part of the season he was often looking to pass the ball into Winks feet.

Ndidi, Choudhury and KDH don’t have the same ability as Winks when pressed in that position.

What people also need is for that 2nd ball to be on, so movement is required.

I Think we need to be patient with Mad’s, he’s a very good keeper but prone to making terrible errors passing the ball out, the opposition squeeze us limiting his options so he needs to be clever with his choices, if the option of the pass isn’t there he just needs to clear it rather than panic and play a teammate into trouble.

Yesterday there were 3-4 passes that Albion should have capitalised on. He did same against Wednesday.both him and defenders need to up their concentration levels when he has the ball as we will get punished as season goes on

I think he could be better than Schmeichel. He’s an outstanding passer but his traditional goalkeeping qualities are all very strong. Made a really good punch in the second half.

He's had a bad couple of games distribution wise. It's remarkable we haven't conceded due to some kamikaze passes. But he's the victim off the opposition starting to read and negate what we do. However, we need Mads to make good decisions. So if that pass isn't on. Don't hit it fella!!

It's really not his fault, he's told to play this way. The guy can launch a ball 70 yards no problem, I'm sure he'd much rather be asked to flip a ball into the other teams corners for our wingers to chase. Rather than being forced into situations where, even when he's doing his job well, he will  gift the opposition 2 or 3 chances a game.

The lad's mustard and will play at the top level.

I think he has much more fun playing this style of football than just hoofing it. I think loads of the players will love playing this way, they will never have had the ball so much before. He’ll make mistakes, hardly anyone has 100% pass accuracy so you can’t expect a 23 year old goalkeeper to do so.

I miss his 70 yard balls to Mavididi and Fatawu earlier in the season after we'd enticed the other team onto us.

You don't want to see endless hoofing because that's the god awful stuff we had to endure under Shakey when he got the gig full time.

Equally I don't want to watch my goalkeeper and defenders walking with the ball for 30 odd minutes a game, gifting random chances to the opposition in the process.

I do wish the managers could agree to sack off the first 70 minutes and just play the last 20 cus they're generally the 20 that are worth watching haha.

Doyle missing probably hasn't helped as he is more comfortable on the ball than Justin.

Any keeper being asked to play such a prominent part in our build up play and effectively play as an 11th outfield player is going to make the odd wayward or sloppy pass even Ederson at Man City will have the odd brain fart. Anyone expecting Mads not to give the ball away a couple of times a game is living in cloud cuckoo land, we are very lucky to have such a talented keeper at the club and I am amazed at some of the stuff I have been reading regards Hermansen and his distribution when we have had the pleasure of watching Schmichael, Ward and Iversen merrily drift the ball out for throw in after throw in after throw in, I really do marvel at some of our fanbase at times, their expectation of perfection really is quite something to behold
