Yeah, a top end league one loan next season will show where he’s at and give him a chance to kick on. KDH was a similar age when he went to Blackpool, and he showed enough at the start of the season to justify keeping for another year at least.

Yes, if fit enough, it would have been nice for him to make a cameo appearance. Just cannot see why Mcateer even comes into the reckoning?  Presumably he must look good in training and follow Enzo's orders to a T but, it isn't transferring to a match day.

All about supply and demand BUT surely if we sell him in the summer, we’d get more than a million for him?

Did a great job for us at the start of the season, but will struggle to make the big step up to the Premier League. 

Can't fault his attitude or work rate though. Would like to see him go on loan to a championship club next season like Leeds or Southampton...

I thought he was excellent tonight. He covered a lot of ground got in tackles and glided past defenders at time.

I'm not sure what anyone expects from one so young.

KD H didn't exactly excel in his first season but look at him now.

I expect McAteer to have a similar development as he grows and settles into the squad.

We wouldn't be champions if he didnt step up at the start of the season.

 

He might not be a top talent but he's got a top mentality and is a top hard worker. Hard work often beats talent and he has been impressive with how he has improved himself from a struggling league one loan to a solid championship season. 

 

One of the biggest success stories of the season for me and it's very poor form that our fans are slagging him off on the day we won the Championship and he scored a goal.

Was I watching a different game? Thought he played well, even without the goal.

We could have used his energy when we were running out of ideas a month or two back.

I'll be surprised to see him feature much next season, but would be glad for him if he gets a loan somewhere to develop - with the option to recall if needed like we've had with Barnes and KDH in the recent past. Enzo clearly rates him to still have him in ahead of the returning Alves.

Get out of it. He's done well more often than not for a young lad in his first season with injury

Yeah I think that's why he gets criticism on here. People expect Mavididi 2.0, but Kasey has his own game. Would Mavidi have been at the near post to score that goal? No chance, he'd have been beyond the far post. Kasey hasn't got electric pace or quick feet but he's got good movement and a real engine, going up and down the pitch. Enzo likes him and he's repayed him with some great numbers for his first season in the team. The way he finished that goal against Liverpool, the kids got talent.

Strange player. He's almost like the Andy King of a winger. Just ghosts into positions and picks up a goal out of no where. 

 

He's not as tricky or quick as our regular wingers, but good defensively and positionally going forward great

The miss was certainly not ideal but aside from that I thought he had a pretty good game and obviously great for him that the second time he got that sort of opportunity, he didn't make the same mistake. Considering he didn't exactly stand out in his League 2 loan spells his contribution this season has been a pleasant surprise.
