There are just so many better, younger, cheaper players available that this transfer just doesnt make sense to me.

He got 15 goal contributions in 22/23 which for a central midfielder (not a #10) then yes that is good. Don't think he was a penalty taker either? 

 

For the record i'm not particularly keen on seeing him here but his output has invariably improved and is a captain type player as well.

I think the 8s / 10s in Cifuentes' system operate as a hybrid of both positions, so he'd probably fit that well.

 

Him being a leader is a big plus too, but...I am very uneasy about paying high wages right now.

If Josh Brownhill can command £100k per week, with a straight face, and still bag a club then we've either picked the absolute worst or the absolute best time to be skint. Depending on how you look at it.

If he can go and earn £100k a year in the desert then good luck to him. Sign for three years and his grandkids will never have to work a day in their lives. Probably great grandkids too if he gets a second set of three years out there. Who needs morals when you can have money.

No income tax either.  Yep, great standard of living for generations. Of course he may want to go to a British club and perhaps win a trophy, become a club legend etc, depends what drives you.
