FA Cup: Chelsea (A) 4-2 Post-Match Thread

Drab first half.  Spirited second half after the humorous OG by Chelsea.

 

Doyle was left out to dry by the rest of our defense, and was forced to take a red card for the team.  Couldn't hold Chelsea back after that.

 

Dust ourselves off in two weeks and get promoted!

We did ok overall but let not forget yes they are Chelsea but they're mid table Prem .

 

Cole Palmer looks like his dad is his uncle too and  if he wasn't a footballer he's be smoking soap bar outside lock up garages.

Good showing today showed we can comfortably compete with a billion pound premier league team. 4-2 flatters them we were on top in the second half until Doyle gets sent off.

 

We should take confidence from that

Strange Game - and credit to the players for effort.

 

First 60 minutes the teams were relatively equal, even though because of a bit of naivety, tactics?? & quality we could have also been 4-0 down. The IWB left us exposed and we lacked going forward – meaning relatively equal in the middle third, they were always looking like scoring where we didn’t

 

Got to 2-2 and took our creativity off, don’t know what Yunus offers us??

 

Doyle took a Red for the team and Justin replaced the last part of creativity we had in the team

 

Then we bring Coady on for Ndidi – now it was only attack v defence and (Unlike previous era’s) I’m not going to blame Enzo for that tactic, but ultimately attack won out today.

In the end, a good account of ourselves. A great Mavididi goal 

 

Chelsea are weird, they spend a billion, they self destruct and almost chuck it away 2nd half and boo their own, then they come up with expensive magic touches.

 

Red changed it.

 

Anyway, now let's get promoted.

Frankly, would’ve preferred to take my chances with a penalty and 11 men.

VAR killed the game with that red card. I genuinely don't think Doyle touched Jackson.

Vestergaard at the heart of everything bad today unfortunately, had a good season in the championship but has hardly proved he'll be upto it once we go up. Otherwise didn't play too bad.

Not only that but that was a must win game for chelsea, a loss would have been the end of their season.

Stayed at 11 v 11, we win that. The red card was right but every 50/50 went their way. Sad to see Chilwell no longer injured

Most can take a lot of credit for that but much work needed if we do come up. Cracking goal from Mavididi and had to admire Chelsea’s 4th.

Think we showed a good account of ourselves, especially in the second half. Need to be registering more than one shot on target if we want to be winning games like this though.
