Tommy G Posted 20 May 2025 Posted 20 May 2025 It doesn't matter who we get as the next manager.... until the shitshow is sorted upstairs we could have Pep and it still wouldn't work. We are that much in the long grass that getting Martin would be a scoop, who on earth half decent would want to come here???
Parker Pen Posted 20 May 2025 Posted 20 May 2025 Maybe the club are leaking the Martin news so that when Ruud isn’t sacked, Dyche or Rohl are appointed it looks 10 times better than it actually is.
Popular Post Blue-fox Posted 20 May 2025 Popular Post Posted 20 May 2025 I’m sorry, but if we get Russell Martin in, I’m done. I’d honestly rather keep Ruud 8
volpeazzurro Posted 20 May 2025 Posted 20 May 2025 (edited) This is like rinse and repeat last year. Uncertainty surrounding the club for disciplinary reasons equals no decent manager would risk coming here until he knows what's happening regarding a points deduction, transfer embargo or both! Only one striker on the books and that's almost an offence under the trade descriptions act! Who could honestly blame them for not coming? It's probably why we ended up with Cooper last time, the only applicant. Edited 20 May 2025 by volpeazzurro

winteriscoming Posted 20 May 2025 Posted 20 May 2025 Like it seemed last summer it’s a win win for any manager coming in with a points deduction. Their credibility and reputation goes up if they turn the club around and if they don’t it’s an easy excuse to blame the points deduction. With the financial mess we’re in we’re not getting any one from another club and having to pay compensation. Based on that I’d look at Cleverley, Cifuentes (not sure what’s happening at QPR), and Selles.

Finnegan Posted 20 May 2025 Posted 20 May 2025 The meltdown on here if Southampton get Will Still and we get Russell Martin will, genuinely quite literally, overload and bring down the site. 2 1 2
foxile5 Posted 20 May 2025 Posted 20 May 2025 Has anyone suggested Nigel ****ing Pearson yet. Chase the dragon one more time.

For me, he’s the go to if we get the first option wrong. If we start floating by relegation and it’s already shite, he has nothing to lose. I don’t want him failing because of the how poorly run we are. if we get hit with a minus 12, well then I’m all for it mind

sm1 Posted 20 May 2025 Posted 20 May 2025 Just when you think Top and Rudkin can't stoop any lower, we hear the words Russell Martin. 1
Leicesterpool Posted 20 May 2025 Posted 20 May 2025 (edited) Top and Rudkin does opposite what ever wants... if you said to them "get us any packet of crisps except ready salted"... what does he bring back "ready salted" Never put them two in charge of peace talks... Edited 20 May 2025 by Leicesterpool
Ian Nacho Posted 20 May 2025 Posted 20 May 2025 No manager will be able to reverse the trajectory of the club until something changes at the "Top". 2
foxes_rule1978 Posted 20 May 2025 Posted 20 May 2025 (edited) Please not Russell Martin, rather RVN stay Edited 20 May 2025 by foxes_rule1978
Jon the Hat Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 Lets be honest, there is zero chance they are talking to new managers at this point. Jon hasn't even had a holiday yet!
STUHILL Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 Of course it would be Russel Martin... He will likely get us back up too, but fail miserable again once up there.

He might have learnt something this season. Also I think the rebuild that is needed probably means relegation at least once more anyway even if we do go up again next season.
Sly Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 Here’s the thing, agents try and get Managers new jobs, whether they are in a role, or out of one. When they’re available on a free, they’ll be linked to us even more, as agents release sound bites to maintain and generate interest. They’re basically using the media for advertising. We will have reached out to the agents that the club overpays for, to find out who is: 1) Available. 2) Is interested in joining. 3) Gullible enough to be believe we have monies to spend. Russell Martin will have been discussed. Then again, so will Southgate, Ten Haag, Rose, Terzic, O’Neill, Schmidt, Baraja, Sarri, Lijnders, Benitez, Van Bommel, Stephán, Floresand Still …. All of whom are currently out of work. You then have the unknowns, who wants to make that next step up from assistant and run the ship themselves. Maybe we’ll go left field again, Italian, and opt for the Italian Rodgers in Farioli? Maybe they’ll go for Big Ange if he leaves Tottenham. Lots of moving parts, however we’ll get nothing concrete outside of speculation until Van Nistelrooy has been let go, of which, isn’t a foregone conclusion.
