He's got a touch of the Vestergaards about him where his laughable lack of pace gets caught out in the Premier League but he's a good enough defender and also good enough on the ball to not look horrendous in this league.

Very interested to see what his pace is like now though. He was slow enough before but after snapping his achilles, he's surely even slower now.

Watching him a lot for Sheff Utd last season, I believe he can do everything Vestergaard can but has a better attitude. The issue being injuries and fitness.

I always thought he was quite slow but there were times for Utd where due to their attacking right back, they were in bother down that side and he was able to get out very quickly to snuff out trouble. Also very capable on the ball.

I guess there are different type of slow. Souttar (Morgan was the same) can cover ground quite quickly but reflexes/flexibility are the other side.

Still a much better option if fit that Vestergaard and Faes given most of this squads issue is poor mentality.

Interesting point.

Wes Morgan and Robert Huth weren't exactly the fastest centre backs.  Thinking about it, Christian Fuchs and Danny Simpson weren't Speedy Gonzales either.

But it didn't matter.    I suppose it's all depends on tactics, midfield cover, discipline, intelligence, and other factors.

Yeah of course, but that’s a pretty lazy way to look at Asian football.

He had very, very good performances in the World Cup, for a team that very much pushed Argentina in the Round of 16.

There are now 18 Aussies in the Championship, about 8 of them should be in Word Cup contention. Souttar, if he gets fit and minutes, is in the squad no question. Australia’s issue is top tier talent at the moment, real world beaters just aren’t there. But it’s a very well rounded squad, with a lot of players who are finally coming through the A-League and moving when they’re ready.

Australia ranked 25 in the world by the way, ahead of Turkey, Wales, Scotland, Serbia, Sweden, Norway, Nigeria. Don’t think there’s much of a conversation about someone of Souttar’s abilities if he was the starting CB for anyone of those nations, but because it’s the Socceroos playing Bahrain (ranked 90), it’s looked very differently to Turkey playing Bulgaria (91).

Talking of aussie footballers. That Herrington at Brisbane has to be worth a look. Only just turned 18 and appears to be a regular at this point

They did have the world's best defensive midfielder I'm front of them TBF

Looks excellent, think he’s off to Colorado in Jan!

I’m very biased being a Melbourne City STH, but there’s about 5 or 6 kids that will be national team players by 2030. Winning the league with kids. They won’t be good enough for the City Group to take them to Man City, but that’s unrealistic anyway. Worst strength and conditioning team, but the best academy in the league by far, with players that just slot in, don’t look phased in the slightest. An 18yo RB just came on in the first half of the Melbourne Derby, first senior league game, scored and was near perfect defensively. Wasn’t even the youngest full back out there, had a 16yo start the damn game.

Kai Trewin and Max Caputo would play significant minutes for Leicester this season. Zane Schreiber, Medin Mehmeti, Patrick Beach, would be league 1 standard at worst.

Australia is full of very interesting, cheap talent. Need some scouts out here (Rudkin if you’re reading I can do it)

In 2015, Wes Morgan was officially the 10th fastest player in the Premier League........

I was surprised at the time when I heard about it.

LCFC having 5 of the fastest 10 players ???   Jamie Vardy being only 0.425 mph faster than Wes Morgan ???    Hmm, I'd take those figures with a bucketload of salt. ...

How long before he's back up and running?

He’s training; maybe 6 or 7 weeks?

Can’t help but feel he could save our season. He’d be colossal next to Nelson if he comes back anywhere near as good as when he got injured.

Don’t think he’s going to be some sort messiah but surely he’s not far off making the bench? Need him if he isn’t earmarked to go in January which wouldn’t surprise me as Wilder adored him.

What does this look like, genuinely? Staying in the league?

As terrible as we’ve been, we are somehow just 6 points from the play offs. That’s not a lot of ground to make up

It is if you add at least a 6 point deduction, that’s 4 wins to catch up and I doubt we will win that many by March by which time the gap will be closer to the bottom 3.

With a change of manager you don’t think you could make up 6 points?

we’re at the worst we could be, I don’t think it’s crazy to think we could improve. I don’t think we will under marti but it’s hardly the most unreasonable possibility.

Obviously depending on the outcome of the psr nonsense

A decent manager could easily make up six points. I have no idea what the points deduction will be but there are a lot of games left to be played.

I hated that stupid article when it was published and it's still dumb now.

Top speed =/= sprint times.

If you can't sustain your top speed for more than a second or it takes you fifty yards to get up to that speed, it means nothing.

Obviously Vards and De Laet had both high top speeds and fast sustained times over distance but a lot of the rest are relative donkeys just with power.

****ing awful journalism from someone supposed to know sport. Just click bait rubbish.
