Top wasn’t available to fly into the country back then to sack him, our sackings have to fit around Tops busy schedule.

I'd usually say this is absolute bollocks but there's been reports Rudkin waits for Top's orders on decisions and is nowhere to be seen.

What a way to run a football club.

My word that is amateurish at best. Ran by utter incompetence daily.

Let’s be honest Tops apathy and a few amazing goals from James and Fatawu kept Marti in a job far longer than he should have been.
The dullest most uninspiring brand of football I’ve ever seen.
Now we move onto the next one, go into survival mode and get rid of lots of dead wood in the summer.
There will be a big party when Ayew, Soumare, Winks and Daka leave the club 🥳

By him being dealt a shit hand, I meant that he was dropped in too late with little or no preseason, had zero transfer budget, and inherited demoralised squad with overpaid want-aways.

But yeah, the expectation was far higher.

To persist with failing players and play players out of position, being repeatedly outdone on tactics was bad.

To have the team lagging in stats for sprints, tackles, distance covered, whilst going for months without a clean sheet, was unforgivable, so he had to go.

In many ways he was dealt a similar hand to Enzo.  I know Enzo had a transfer window and pre season but he also inherited a squad of demoralised want-aways.  Enzo galvanised his squad in short order.  The contrast with Marti is stark.

Overall, to be a given a £150m squad of players, almost all of whom have spent the majority of their careers in the Premier League is a hand that most of our rivals at this level would jump at.

Thank goodness.

Wasn't the right appointment to begin with.

I wish him well wherever he ends up.

Onto the next incoming firing lol.

He never was going to be the answer IMO, however I feel for the bloke. No signings, only loans, no money and a shed load of wantaway players.

I remember Ruud not giving younger players a chance as we went on a monumental losing run but in fairness to Marti, at least he has given half a season of so many younger players which may set us for the future. I think turning Skipp into a first teamer ahead of Soumare and Winks is the other think I`ll thank him for.

Hopefully he gets the backing of the board on transfers where he ends up LOL

Wasn't dealt a good hand but didn't make the most of what he had. The statistics are grim and we were getting worse. Persisted with too many underperforming players.

Was not working so needed to go. Why does the same person get to choose a 4th manager in 19 months, though? I await the next underwhelming choice.

I mean yeh its totally unwarranted isnt it. There is so much positivity around the club right now, I've no idea at all why any of our fans would be negative. I think some people should "be careful what they wish for" and remember that "we were in league 1 once". Ill be happy to give the boys a good round of applause when we get pumped at home to Charlton.

Tactically inept and pretty useless as a manager but part of me feels sorry for him. Poison chalice that any respectable manager would be mad to take on. Top is just as, if not more accountable for this mess.

I don't feel sorry for him hes earnt a fortune and will also get a pay off

Obviously wasn’t the right bloke it was clear pretty early on we were playing dreadful football and managing to get the odd result here and there through either sheer luck or individual quality. He has had restraints but the style of play (if there ever was one) was abysmal. Put the ball out to the wings and pray for magic was his be all and end all.

Was he lied to during his appointment process?

Doesn't matter really, even if he'd been given the money to bring in quality players, his tactical nous and strength of character weren't up to the job and we'd still be where we are now.

On the plus side, at least he's tried (albeit he's above his skill level) and not deliberately sabotaged us like the snake, Rodgers did.

I don't care if he comes out in a wheelchair phoenix nights style, there's only one man for the job and it's big Nig. Chrissy Powell and kingy on the coaching staff. Only way to stop the rot, let him rebuild the club for a third time.

Im amazed anyone thinks this changes anything. Club is in free fall and nothing changed till rudkin and top go. The last four years have told us that quite loudly.

Totally agree with your Top and Rudkin point but sacking Marti should (I'm hopeful) change things certainly in the short term.

His removal was needed, and the fact he won't be influencing anything in the next match is already a big plus.

If as others have suggested he had lost the dressing room then that problem has gone.

King needs to be left alone, and i just pray is that he actually has his own ideas, methods, and practices that differ from Marti's catalogue of sh1t.  If not, then we may not get the uplift we all want and need.

The next two or three matches will be telling.

More of the same slow, lacklustre, sideways passing,  unclear tactics or lack of identity with general disinterest from players, coupled with dull team selections  ie Ayew up front, slowing up play and falling over every 30 secs, when Daka or even S Thomas instead would give us better pressing or the option of stretching the opposition.  BDCR  when Page is better,  L Thomas when Aluko is the better option,  etc. we know who's under performed  or is a liability and who's faired a bit better when they have made it onto the pitch

A lot of us have said similar things and have similar team selections that once the players concerned  kick a ball prove as correct.

If King sets up his team that differ from Marti's and delivers tactics that us "all wise armchair managers"  post here on the forum, then we may see some improvement and also stand a chance once the points deduction hits of escaping the relegation scrap we would have landed ourselves in.

Lot's of ,"if's, but's and maybe's"  I agree,  but the fuse has been lit,  so all we can do is stand back and watch the fireworks or see another dud fizzle, splutter and underwelm the audience.
