I wonder whether they're relocating seats that had been purchased in the North Stand into A1 and A2.

 

It's all an approximation.

They must be giving seats away to friends and family, schools, charities, etc to get bums on seats. No way they've sold an extra 3000 tickets based on that All Star line up.

We don’t hate Leicester but literally everything they do is shite, couldn’t make it up, this event just shows that. The only thing we are good at is spending money and look where that’s got us. We all care for the club but nothing will change while top and Rudkin are here.

They definitely gave some away to Blue Light Card as you could apply for them on there, so would imagine they are giving a lot away

Ok for possibly the 4th time now, I'll break out the crayons and try and explain it again.

 

Its because people do care that they are wanting Top, Rudkin and Co out of the club.

 

Using your words 'this to be a humiliation and embarrassment'  is not to fuel their hatred of Top and Rudkin, that disdain is already there in buckets full due to their own incompetence, poor decision making etc. spanning the last 5 or 6 seasons and leaving us with League One football and the mountain of other avoidable problems to date

 

Refering back to the actual title of this thread the vast majority of those who have a problem with the match think the timing is totally wrong, that it's very existence is being marketed off the back of arguably our greatest achievement just when we are are at our lowest point, both in the football pyramid and the overall shambles of our day to day running. Their gripe is in their option the club has yet again failed too read the room, and this "celebration" is in the aforementioned timing above in bad taste and a bit crass, and the club plugging it as a celebration off the back of a recent relegation sticks in many peoples throats.

 

Your point about the past players being 'added into that scenario'. 

 

The players involved all know our current situation,

 

The players involved will be aware that on the whole this match isn't being received by the fan base, as the poor ticket sales to date highlights.  The rubbish sales has nothing to do with the posts on Foxestalk it's the wider audience staying away for their own reasons, (be that financial, on holiday, agreeing that it's in poor taste/timing or any other reason) but staying away they most definitely are.

 

The players involved, are all grown adults, none are being forced to play, even when putting 2 and 2 together from the points above that actually hint towards the match being a bad idea, they are still lacing up their boots. So if running out to around 5000 in a 32000+ capacity stadium is a humiliation and embarrassment on their own heads be it.

 

That's the crux of the matter for most, its the timing of the match. 

 

The shambolic marketing, the horrendous merchandise, the fact more effort and communication has been put in over a "charity match" compared to the league hasn't helped but these are only additional gripes once they have unfolded post announcement of the match.

King Power have only agreed to this as a reminder of what they think they did for us. Anything before King Power, like Gordon Banks' death for instance, is barely recognised. It's always been about them. 

 

It's because we do care that we want this to fail miserably. Maybe those ex players who have done nothing but praise KP because of the shower of gifts they once got will start to air their real opinions when they see their Q+As and events like this are not what we want.

No one wants this to fail. It’s actually that no one wants the players to be humiliated through an ill planned and executed event. We want the legacy of that achievement to be protected and treated with respect. 
 

The planned match is not a fitting tribute. The calibre of the opposition is not fitting. Our best ever squad have the honour of facing a squad which have no tangible connection to that season.

 

We can honour the legacy in so many other ways which cost a fraction of the money but create a huge amount of goodwill. 
 

We could easily do a Q and A with the squad in the great hall - tickets would be free - followed by a signing session in the shop (if you wanted to claw some cash back you could sell replica shirts and various tat that people could buy to sign).

There could then be a gala banquet in the evening for the squad to celebrate. (Again, if you then wanted to claw some cash back you could charge for a small group to attend that meal). 

 

Finally, at the end of the meal, you’d unveil plans for a statue in honour of Claudio alongside an annual 5000/1 award which the club would present to a local person who has done something incredible for charity or the community. 
 

What you wouldn’t do is tarnish their legacy by getting them to play against former Stoke City journeyman in a half empty stadium.

There's so many ways they could have honoured them, there's a complete lack of imagination. I suspect they weren't planning on doing anything until a few of the team moaned about being ignored by the club. They'll take any failure re the football but any disparaging of KP and they'll react.

If the club were bothered it would have been discussed much earlier in the year, it's such a clear distraction tactic. Seems like the majority of the 15/16 team are more bothered about their relationship with Top than the club as well, so I don't have too much sympathy.

 

I don't blame them either, a lot of them did very well out of KP and clearly had a good relationship with Vichai and Top so it makes sense to me.
