Enzo to Man City and our fans was calling him shit lol :nigel:

Did anybody call him shit? I'm pretty sure he got called boring more than anything else which a lot of Chelsea fans then called him too.

I don't see him as a top flight title winning manager. This post maybe quoted at the end of the season but I'll be surprised if Man City win the league.

Insanely good deal from Forest. Marinakis gets a lot of heat on here (sometimes understandable) but he's really made them a club people don't piss around with. The total opposite of our owner.

Sickening

I can’t even bring myself to compare the squads of Forest and Leicester just a few seasons ago.

Now they are getting pretty much double the amount money for one player than we got for Maddison, Barnes and Tielemans combined

****ing absurd number.

I assume they need someone home grown, there's no way there aren't better players out there for a measley 50 - 60 mil.

Man City should be thrown out of English football forever for helping Forest solve their financial problems.

Assume Man City's 115 charges are out of the window, now?..

If it helps anyone, we gained like 160m or something from Fofana and Maguire and still ****ed it up.

I'm sure they'll still collapse eventually lol

Same for the £100m West Ham got for Rice

I rate Anderson but I can't believe Man City are willing to pay that for him, not worth it in a million years.

He's a good player, but career wise this will be the worst thing for him.

Ridiculous fee for Anderson. He's OK, but that fee is obscene. Why on earth Man City are paying that much I have no idea. He's decent, but massively overrated in my opinion and nowhere near world class. Wharton is a far better player in my view. To top it off, my neighbour is his uncle so no doubt will have him banging on about this move next time I see him whilst I'm cutting the hedges 😕

Ipswich with Gary O'Neill and Hull's already poor squad (plus a need to sell before they can buy) almost ensures Forest live to fight another season.

I see similarities with O’Neil being appointed at Ipswich with ourselves when we got Cooper in.
2 relegation spots took with Hull and Ipswich then.

If it is them 2, I’ll take Forest or Cov. I’m not greedy, either will do.

Chelsea have released a statement on the Appointment of Enzo Maresca as Man city Manager

“Chelsea FC appreciates the 2025/26 season was a hugely disappointing one for the Club and its supporters. A major contributing factor was the disruption caused as a result of changes that the Club was forced to make to the Head Coach position over the Christmas period.  Due to recent developments, we consider that it is important to explain to our supporters what happened and why our former Head Coach left the Club on 1 January 2026.

'In Autumn last year, the Club was informed by our former Head Coach that there might be an opportunity for him to succeed Pep Guardiola at the end of the season.  It became clear to us that it was his strong desire to succeed Guardiola and that he was fully committed to pursuing the opportunity, despite the fact he was under a long-term contract which he had no right to terminate.

'In December 2025, our Head Coach unexpectedly and abruptly resigned from his position. Obviously, we felt let down as we believed that his head and heart were focused on another club and another opportunity, despite having just arrived at Chelsea the year before.

'No club wants to change its head coach midway through a season. However, in light of his decision not to continue fulfilling his responsibilities through to the end of the season, the Club was left with no choice but to protect our players, our supporters, and the Badge and accept his resignation.

'In the circumstances and given the mutual respect between clubs, a confidential settlement has been reached with Manchester City, which includes the payment of compensation. A confidential settlement has also been reached with the former Head Coach under which he will pay compensation.

'Looking forward to next season, in Xabi Alonso, we have a Manager who has an exceptional football mind and is a professional of the highest integrity.  He has all the attributes to deliver the success the Club’s supporters deserve and expect.”

Maresca has released his own statement effectively corroborating this. He comes out looking very bad imo.

I know we all (mostly) wanted him to stay, but this just confirms he'd have been immediately agitating for the exit as soon as a better opportunity came along.

Are we saying that managers don't have the right to cancel their contract then?

He gave up 3.5 years of his contract and loyalty bonuses to resign. Surely he's well in his rights to do that? Sounds like he's even gone out of his way to pay compensation to Chelsea.

I'm guessing they do, it's more making sure they aren't cancelling contracts to take another job and making clubs miss out on compensation

Honestly all I take from that word salad is "man wanted to take a new job and did what he wanted to do it."

The man had the desire to no longer do his job and decided to resign and pay financial costs to enact that desire. So what? Why should football managers be held to any higher standard than anyone else.

I get that but Man City have paid £17m in compensation and Maresca himself is topping that up.

I have absolutely no sympathy for a club coming in and poaching their manager given that they did the exact same thing to us.
