Pearson sacked - Not just yet.

Players will be gutted.

I can see a mass exit come the seasons end, none of these players will want to play for anyone else. There isn't another manager out there who can save us, we will get some foreign clown in who probably won't pick up another point all season. What a time to sack him.........

Always wonderd when we would 'bottom out' ?

Yesterday I felt awful , worse than after Tottenham at home. I said to those around me in the game I think the shit just hit the fan . Bad loss . Very bad loss .

I think nigals arrogance came back to haunt him, his whole backing of the squad what came up and new contracts etc But not to strengthen the squad in the summer or January has cost him his job!

We are not down (yet). Yesterday was just another massive chance to move away from the bottom of the league . Timing ,when is a good time to follow a successful manager ? We need a reaction from this squad ? Thanks nigel it's been great ....!

Means nothing at moment im not going to 100% trust sky sports sources! They got everything wrong on deadline day! Ill wait until its reported on Leicester website!

I'm really quite shocked and actually feel quite sad.

However with 17% win rate and being bottom of the table then the only surprise is the timing.

Surely the owners have someone lined up this time. Please be Di Mateo!!

We're cardiff ever mid table?

I was talking more about how they've fared this season after changing their manager.

Yeh when McKay was sacked (for largely non footballing reasons)

How can you simplify it by 'changing their manager'? If the manager you bring in is a quality one it's going to be different to replacing a decent one with a shite one, surely?

Let's see who we get in, but frankly Pearson has taken us as far as he can. It's the sensible, non-emotional choice.

Truth is we are not a bad team - but maybe not good enough. Is it the payers? is it the manager?  IT's both: any team even Chelsea could get better players in and would be a better team - but the manager controls the structure, organisation and tactics - would Chelsea be as good without Jose? No.  Similarly our club would be better with a better manager - clearly ... and I believed the right route was for Pearson to work on his weaknesses and become that better manager... it is never a shame to admit you can improve... but NP seems to be a slow learner.. or is too proud.  Simple thing have just not been addressed - e.g. conceding soft goals from set pieces.

The PL is a big step up for everyone - and Pearson should have recognised that.  What is strange , is that his slowness to learn was obvious months ago - so I don't understand why now... unless there was some row about yesterday?  IT would have seemed best to get to the end of the season and then decide what's best for the club...

I expect there has been a tiff.  This just doesn't make sense.

Absolutely gutted.

Good luck Top. I have a feeling you'll need it, you might be about to find out just how hard it is to get a good manager.

Perhaps the timing is that we are playing arsenal away, villa in the cup and anyone taking control has two free games to find a formation that might work.

U could even argue that Everton away and city away are likely pointless?

That leaves the new man 11 games to find 6 wins!! (10 if you remove chelsea)

Don't think NP can have too many complaints given the run we've been on. His "behaviour" also didn't help his cause, whether it was overblown or not.

Strange timing but understandable decision.

I said yesterday on another thread that the time had come. The sacking can't give anyone but Stringer any satisfaction. Pearson's achievements at the King Power will always be legendary and he will always be held in the highest regard by City fans. However, yesterday's defeat marked the end of the road. There reaches a point where any manager must run out of ways to try to motivate and improve a continually losing, bottom-of-the- table team. If the club had prolonged the inevitable there would have been a mounting "Pearson Out" campaign, which would have been in no-one's best interest.

Hold on a minute...bottom of the table, **** off and die..macarthur round the throat and your record signing on the bench in a 0-1 defeat and people are surprised?

The stats don't lie. 9 points from the last 57 is nothing short of a disgrace, even in this league. That combined with his touchline/off the field antics sealed it. Nigel has been a great servant to the club, but enough was enough. We needed change.

Pearson has done a great job over the years but I honestly think he's not or ever will be a premiership manager. Let's all get behind the new guy who ever it is onwards and upwards.

This is the type of post I like. So many people acting like we appointed Pearson at the beginning of this season and forgetting everything hes done. Yes, he has not been great this season, but he has done something great for us. We should not forget that.

I can't believe what I'm reading on here from some people.

Let me say it again: We're bottom.

We've been bottom for several months now. We look like dead certs for relegation. It's not 'knee jerk', it's been coming.

I'm also absolutely blown away by some of the disgusting personal abuse Pearson (best manager since O'Neill by a million miles) has been receiving from some tonight.

I mean I know a large percentage of our fanbase has questionable mental health issues (just have a look around the KP and indeed Leicester City centre for proof) but some of it is taking the biscuit.

seems like everyone on here still wants pearson and only a few idiots want him to be sacked

same ones who probably hated the fact we won the championship last season cause pearson did well. *****

It really isnt a nice thing that he's lost his job and I certainly wont celebrate the fact.

He did a great job but took us as far as he could.

It shows that the owners whose patience has been phenomenal with Pearson has finally ran out.

The timing is very strange given the window has closed but I suppose yesterdays incident was the straw that broke the camels back. People will say it was blown out of proportion but lets be honest, it wasn't in any way professional.

Would not be surprised at all to see Cambiasso take the reigns for the rest of the season.

Total madness. The timing makes absolutely no sense. The new man won't be able to bring anyone in until the summer.

The next appointment is the biggest in the history of this club. Get it wrong and we'll do a Wigan / Leeds or God forbid a Pompey. Get it right and we'll cling to the division by our fingertips.

Huge thanks to Nigel for the years of success and stability. Probably the only time I can think of a manager sacked when he's got the majority behind him.
