Vacamion Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Heard on the radio earlier that some Villa fans want Martin O'Neill as the new boss. That's even more fvckwitted than the deluded sad cases that occasionally still suggest he might return to City.
Tuna Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Burnleys forum would go into meltdown if Dyche left them for Villa Remember when Coyle left them for Bolton and they ended up with Brian Laws! In the Premier League!
DB11 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Well when Pardew left Newcastle their first game was vs us in the FA Cup so who knows

That's even more fvckwitted than the deluded sad cases that occasionally still suggest he might return to City. Didn't Villa alot of fans want O'Neill out and constantly slag him off?
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 I'm not convinced he's as shit as he's looked at Villa, I think they're well on their way to doing a Leeds and maybe these last 2 years a different manager at the helm would of seen them relegated. Obviously by all accounts and all stats been playing shocking football this season so not surprised by this at all.
ozleicester Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 They will be told concentrate on league like NUFC told Carver , We will all be glued to the TV Monday evening !!!!! This is what im hoping for... perhaps rest some players for the prem matches... yeh yeh.. its all hope. But we are still better than them so... next round please
Steven Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 Sigh. This never ever goes our way. More shit luck. Fine margins, like 9 points out of 60.
David Hankey Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 The only surprise in this news is that it has taken Villa so long to wield the axe. It has been on the cards for some time. This is a results based industry and Villa just like City have done enough. Watch this space for the next victim.
MC Prussian Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 For all the money and talent at his disposal (and I think Villa have a decent team on paper), he failed to deliver massively. In three years, he managed to achieve a 25% win ratio and the recent scoring record's also appalling. Bad timing for us - still, there's hope we can make it past them in the Cup.
Stadt Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 I think it's the turgid football they play that's done it, seems like Villa fans see going to games as as a chore
Dr The Singh Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 It's not a bad move for them, on paper they look strong, a new manager will give them the boost, a couple of wins, enough to avoid relegation!!

Also it is not like here where the majority want Pearson to stay, I am pretty sure every single Villa fan wanted him to be sacked. I think it is due to the fact that their owner is trying to sell the club but having no luck, and he wanted to try and sell before he sacked Lambert as he has to now pay out the £3m compo. The club will be much easier to sell now though.
Guest seanfox778 Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 I think Lambert will be Celtic's next long term manager when the current fella leaves.
iamafox Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 Villa scoring only 12 goals in 25 league games is absolutely atrocious, yet we've scored 10 more and are below them. I still believe he shouldn't have left Norwich in the first place.
Fox92 Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 Didn't Villa alot of fans want O'Neill out and constantly slag him off? Apparently so. O'Neill constantly delivered top 6 finishes and even a League Cup final too.
ScouseFox Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 Apparently so. O'Neill constantly delivered top 6 finishes and even a League Cup final too. the fans had "delusions of grandeur" to the max. they wanted to keep all their good players (milner, young and barry) amidst competition from huge teams, and use them to break into the top 4. was never going to happen, and what's happened since shows how bloody well he did.
ADK Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 I don't think Paul Lambert is actually a bad manager although he had to go, I think after a rest he'll do reasonably well somewhere. They just have a chairman that wants out and a squad who have that losers mentality of a team that has been drifting for multiple seasons. They remind me of Coventry before they were finally relegated.
Corky Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 I'm not convinced he's as shit as he's looked at Villa, I think they're well on their way to doing a Leeds and maybe these last 2 years a different manager at the helm would of seen them relegated. Obviously by all accounts and all stats been playing shocking football this season so not surprised by this at all. At Norwich he didn't have a huge amount to spend yet relentlessly attacked, pretty much against everyone which helped them to a comfortable finish. Villa do have some decent players so their goals return and style of football is baffling.
Leicesterpool Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 the fans had "delusions of grandeur" to the max. they wanted to keep all their good players (milner, young and barry) amidst competition from huge teams, and use them to break into the top 4. was never going to happen, and what's happened since shows how bloody well he did. That is probably the case however it shows the level of ambition that O'Neil as, I mean in that summer he left after he was told by Lerner that he wasn't going to get a penny in that window plus he was going to have to sell Milner. Lerner may have spent a lot of money to break Villa into the top four, but I think to break into the top four these days you need a much more richer and ambitious chairman. Lerner is the blame for Villa's recent demise, last few years he shown a lack of interest towards the club.
Crinklyfox Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 He claims to have had a remit of reducing the wage bill whilst keeping Villa in the PL. If so, and if the next manager has the same remit, I can't see this going down too well with the squad. Difficult to be motivated to give your all with a wage cut or the axe hovering over you.
Fox92 Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31438835 Good little read. "Lambert was warned over Villa job". I understand Villa are a big club, big fanbase, big ground, big City but who's going to want to take them over while they are in this position financially? Lerner has obviously lost interest in recent years.
MPH Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 Been in the job over 2 years and could still not speak English fluently. Had to go.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 I'm not surprised Lerner might want to tighten the pursetrings when O'Neill spent nearly 8 million on Carlos Cuellar. MON did well there (he probably hit Villa's ceiling) but let's not pretend that he didn't spend a really good wedge on some absolute guff.
ealingfox Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 MON also turned down Radamel Falcao for 7 mill because they had Heskey. People laugh now but a sound decision at the time imo.
ADK Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 Falcao is overrated. Really done nothing for me at Man U.
